SEEKONK, Mass. — Rehoboth’s Dave Darling’s season of dominance continued on Saturday, August 14, as the driver of the No. 52 inched closer to his record eighth track championship. Darling started towards the bottom of the top-10 in the 40 lap race, and without the luxury of a caution, the veteran sliced through the field, passing Mike Brightman for the lead at the halfway point. From there, he never looked back, holding the checkered flag once again.

While Darling started to open the gap over Brightman, the rest of the field went to work to try and get around the No. 27 for second. In the end, it was Ryan Kuhn, Darling’s closest points contender, who would make the last move and grab a second-place finish. Dylan Estrella passed Brightman in the final laps, grabbing a podium run, while Brightman settled for fourth and Kenny Spencer returned to the top-five, in fifth.
Tom Scully Jr. was sixth, followed by Rick Martin, Ryan Lineham, Colbey Fournier and Fred Astle. A total of 18 Pro Stocks showed up to the track for Everett’s Auto Parts night at the races, the highest field of the season. Darling’s elusive eighth title would allow him to be the only driver in the 75-year history of the track to accomplish eight championships.
The Pro Stocks will return to the track on Saturday, August 21, for another 40-lap feature, this time in the finale of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
