David Gravel Wins Captani Classic At Knoxville

David Gravel of Watertown, CT added to his long list of achievements by winning the 10th Annual Capitani Classic Sunday night at the Knoxville Raceway as heard live on KNIA.

Gravel, who is the defending Knoxville Nationals winner, blew by Cory Eliason on lap 13 and was never challenged after that. Gravel said in victory lane, the key to getting around Knoxville is running the bottom well, something he felt he did on Sunday.

Eliason was 2nd followed by Donny Schatz in 3rd place.

The scene shifts now to the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for the Front Row Challenge tonight where one driver will walk away with a $21,000 payday.

The next on track activity for the Knoxville Raceway is Wednesday’s opening night qualifier for the 60th Running of the Knoxville Nationals.
