Barre, VT — Thunder Road has postponed the 58th Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic until Friday, June 4 at 6:00pm. The decision was made due to a poor weather outlook for both Sunday, May 30 and Monday, May 31.
All major forecasting outlets are calling for rain to develop in the Barre area to develop early Sunday afternoon and continue until late Monday afternoon. As such, officials elected to make the call early and move the event to the following Friday. The new date also allows for flexibility in case weather interferes again.
Post time for the Friday event is 6:00pm. The card includes the 125-lap Memorial Day Classic for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, the Myers Container Service Triple Crown 100 for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, the RK Miles Street Stocks, and the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. A complete schedule of events will be released shortly. Admission is $20 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, and $40 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). The event will also be broadcast live on FloRacing for those with a monthly or yearly subscription.
All advance tickets will be honored at the Friday make-up date. If fans with advance tickets cannot attend the new date, they may call the track office at (802) 244-6963 ext. 4 on Tuesday, June 1 to inquire about a refund.
Teams that already had parked their haulers in the Thunder Road pits can pick them up on Sunday, May 31 between 10:00am and 12:00pm. The status of the COVID-19 vaccine clinic that was scheduled for Sunday is to be determined.
