Back Again: Darling Makes Late Move For Another Pro Stock Win

Dave Darling snapped his one-race losing streak on Saturday night in the Pro Stock feature finale, as he thwarted Rick Martin and Ryan Lineham from going 2-for-2 and grabbed his second win of the year.

Martin and Lineham finished second and third respectively while pulling double duty, as Martin took the checkered flag in the Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck race and Lineham went wire to wire to take the win in the Everett’s Auto Parts Late Model race earlier in the evening.

Darling was among several pre-race contenders that started towards the back of the field, as he began in eighth, with Martin (ninth), Dylan Estrella (11th), and last week’s winner Tom Scully Jr. (13th) all needing to get lots of work done to make it up to the front.  Colby Fournier landed on the pole, with Fred Astle quickly taking the lead on Lap 2.  Lineham tried to get past Fournier for second on Lap 4 before the first caution of the race came out due to an incident between Scully Jr. and Bobby Pelland.

The Lap 4 activity continued, as Astle spun out after Turn 2 while leading the field, bringing out another yellow flag.  Lineham took the lead on the restart, with Ryan Vanasse taking third and both Mike Brightman and Ryan Kuhn battling for fourth.  Lap 9 saw another stoppage, as David Simpson and Mark Henshaw made contact between Turn 1 and 2.  Martin and Darling finally made their way into the Top 5 during the next stretch of green-flag racing, which ended as Mark Jenison lost control and smacked the side of Scully Jr. near the starting line on Lap 23.

Martin and Darling passed Vanasse for second and third on Lap 25, but Lineham seemed to have both in his rear-view mirror as he pulled away from his pursuers.  Darling claimed second with 13 laps remaining, and was slowly tracking Lineham down until the final caution flag came out on Lap 31.  Lineham initially held on after the restart, but Darling made his move with five laps left and claimed yet another victory, with Martin taking the second spot with two laps remaining.

Brightman and Kuhn took home fourth and fifth respectively, while Kenny Spencer, Vanasse, Pelland, Astle, and Estrella landed in the Top 10.

The Pro Stocks will return to action on Saturday, May 22, with a 40-lap feature as part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series.  Due to limited capacity restrictions, advanced tickets will be on sale at
