We’re very pleased to announce that the Southwick National is back on the schedule for this year! It takes place on Saturday, June 26.
Of course, that’s all dependent on how good or bad the situation is with Covid-19 so at this time tickets aren’t on sale. Please stay tuned, as soon as we know for sure that we’ll be able to run that race we’ll let you know and tickets will go on sale. Tickets and VIP/Preferred Viewing passes already purchased for the 2020 National will be honored at this year’s race.
Our heartfelt thanks to you, our loyal fans as well as MX Sports Pro Racing, AMA, NBC, fellow event organizers, sponsors and factory teams for their tireless efforts to make this Pro MX season a reality.
The Wick is operated and promoted by Richard Johnson and Keith Johnson of Pembroke, MA. Previously the venue had hosted the AMA National. But there needed to be improvements in order to keep up with the standards required by the sanctioning body the AMA. When that didn’t happen, under the aegis of the previous track operators, they lost the event. The Johnsons took over with a multiyear plan which was approved by the sanction body. Then the Pandemic came along in 2020 and resulted in forcing the new management and the AMA National to scratch the event.
Now the Johnsons have high hopes that the Commonwealth of MA will allow them to bring in enough fans to pay the bills for the MX National. Indications are that the Pandemic is losing its hold due to the strong vaccination efforts. We’ll know what’s going to happen as the event is just seven weeks away.
