New Sprint Cup Team Headed to Daytona

Mooresville, NC (February 2) – Frank Stoddard, 14-time winning NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief, announced today that he has formed his own NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race team.  Stoddard will own the #32 Ford Fusion and plans to compete in the full schedule.

Drivers in NASCAR’s three national series will have to elect a single championship to chase in 2011, eliminating the ability of drivers such as Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards and Paul Menard — who were full-time double-dippers in 2010 — to chase two championships at once.

TV Times - Decisive Win for David Reutimann

David Reutimann pulled off the win at Chicagoland for Michael Waltrip Racing. It was the second one, unlike the first was which the result of a rain-shortened race. This time he roared into the lead around Jeff Gordon earning himself a decisive win without any excuses.

The fact that Jimmie Johnson didn’t do very well in the Windy City (a 25th place finish) tightens things up in the Cup Series. As of last Sunday, Kevin Harvick still leads the point tally with Jeff Gordon next and JJ in third.

TV Times - Harvick's Daytona Win Makes Chase Interesting

Lou Modestino's TV TimesKevin Harvick’s win at Daytona over the weekend puts him in strong contention for the Sprint Cup Championship. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, also with strong finishes at Daytona, are now behind Harvick as the Cup Series hit the half-way mark. Harvick, to his credit, has succeeded in making the Chase To The Nextel Cup very interesting at this point in time. For up until the end of March, it appeared that it was going to be an easy drive to another championship for JJ and company.
