The long drawn out SpeedWeeks at Daytona are finally over, coming to a merciful end at 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
Weatherwise, things went well in the preliminary events, but the destruction of lower division race cars were numerous, about 60, according the talking heads in the announcers’ booth.
More crashes in the rain-delayed 500 only added to the carnage.
In all, there’ll be work for team members back in the race shops that could take months to fix.
