NASCAR is rolling out a new and unique fantasy game. 32 of the top drivers will be selected and seeded in a tournament style head to head single elimination bracket (think March Madness) Fans will then be able to choose the winners of each matchup. The winning driver of the head to head race (i.e. Dale Jr. goes against Mark Martin, Dale finishes in 7th place in his race, while Martin finishes in 15th, Martin is then eliminated and Dale Jr. moves on to the second round) then advances to compete another day. The competition kicks off at. Pocono on August 7th and runs for 3 weeks until the “fastest four” are left and compete for the Championship at the August 27th race at Bristol.
Click past the jump for much more information, including the drivers who will be competing, and to enter the contest!

Mark Martin would grab his 39th victory of 741 races in last year’s LifeLock 400 from Chicagoland. Jeff Gordon would snatch 2nd and Kasey Kahne would finish in 3rd.
Tony Stewart, the points leader at the time, would finish 4th and move to 175 points over Jeff Gordon in the standings. Denny Hamlin rounded out the top 5.
It was not the best day to drive a Ford, but Carl Edwards would finish the best in 14th.
Let’s crunch the numbers and see who’s hot and who to avoid at Chicago.

It was this time last year, when it came down to just .391 seconds and a teammate battle in a green-white-checkered finish. Kyle Busch would once again dominate at Bristol leading 378 of the 503 laps beating Denny Hamlin to the finish. The final caution by Joey Logano’s blown engine, set up the final restart on lap 502. Busch had the better car on restarts and would use this last run to his advantage, breaking a streak (13 wins at 13 different tracks).
Following close behind and rounding out the top ten that day would be Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, (Pole-sitter) Ryan Newman, Jeff Burton, Juan Pablo Montoya and Marcos Ambrose.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see who’s hot at Bristol. Who’s got Bristol by the tail and who’s riding the wave of momentum.

On the Keselowski/Edwards affair, let’s see if NASCAR can manage all of this wisely and put more fans in the stands and do something which would result in an uptick in the TV ratings.
There’s an old saying “with adversity comes opportunity”.
NASCAR has blown it before by perpetuating boring races. When something happens they come down hard on the drivers and teams and the results are bland and boring races. Didn’t we read and hear that the NASCAR brass want the drivers to be themselves? Now let’s see if they mean it.
