I’ll bet NASCAR’s Brian France had more than just a little grin on his face because The Chase To The Sprint Cup was squeaky tight going into Texas, no doubt peaking fans’ interest.

Denny Hamlin managed to keep himself in the hunt for NASCAR’s Chase To The Sprint Cup.
His win at Martinsville and Jimmie Johnson’s fifth puts Hamlin only a slim 6 points behind JJ.

The Chase To The Sprint Cup kicks in this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The dozen who will be participating includes Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth and Clint Bowyer. The rest will have to wait until next year.

Todd Bodine and Kyle Busch went at it in the NASCAR Truck race at Kentucky with Bodine coming out on top with the win. Bodine’s comments while in Victory Lane about Busch’s “dirty driving” resulted in the latter’s rushing over into Todd’s face, going toe-to-toe with him – no doubt generating some much-needed publicity for NASCAR’s third-tier division!

This time last year, Kyle Busch had to hold off Mark Martin on a four lap sprint to the finish! It wasn’t easy, several restarts and a 15-minute rain delay would slow him down.
>>>Fast Forward – Jimmie Johnson, finally marked Bristol off of his to do list earlier this season with his first victory at the track. He clawed his way to the lead, from 6th place in just three laps. Lady luck? Horseshoe? Kurt Busch led 278 of the 500 laps and had a decent gap on Johnson when his easy drive to victory was clouded by a debris caution with 17 laps remaining. All the leaders headed to pit road, and Busch and Johnson both took four tires on the final stop.
Let’s crunch the numbers and see who’s hot and who’s not. The drivers popping up, just might surprise ya!

Two road course veterans won at The Glen. And that’s no big surprise given that several teams hired road racing specialists for this race. Juan Pablo Montoya won the Cup race and Marcos Ambrose took the Nationwide race a day earlier.
