It sounds like there was a great Camping World Truck Series race from Martinsville yesterday… unfortunately my stupid DVR decided not to tape it for some odd reason.
Here’s today’s full load of stock car racing from NASCAR, ARCA, and USAR for you in the most recent edition of our Stock Car Gazette e-zine.

Fox’s broadcast of that Sunday’s Food City 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race earned a 4.1 overnight rating and a 10 market share from Nielsen Media Research, Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily reports. The rating is 18 percent lower than the 5.0 Fox earned for the race in 2008. This report came from Scene Daily and the Jayski.com web page. The final ratings were pretty much the same story. The good news is that the Cup race at Bristol was a sellout due to the fact that the front office worked hard to make it happen.

Now that was a little more like it… I got to see all the Sprint Cup racing from Martinsville yesterday and I enjoyed it, even though the wrong guy won (lol).

Truck Race Delayed Until Monday
The Kroger 250 Camping World Truck Series race has been postponed until Monday at 12:00 p.m. Rain forced NASCAR to move the race after repeated attempts to dry the track. The race will be televised live on Fox. The two Sprint Cup practice sessions were also washed out on Saturday but forecast are calling for clearing skies for Sunday’s Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 with only a slight chance of rain. Hendrick Motorsports definitely has it figured out a Martinsville. Congrats for a win on their anniversary celebration.
It was nice to see some new faces in the top 10 today. I’m hopeful we’ll continue to see improvement in many of the young drivers and a resurgence from some of the oldies.

As predicted, the weather got the advantage on qualifying and with Gordon leading, the pole position was his. The cars and drivers did however get a chance to practice on track and Denny Hamlin was fastest in the first session with Harvick second and finally Gordon was third fastest in his DuPont Chevrolet.

I am surely hoping THIS weekend’s NASCAR short track racing at Martinsville is more exciting than the snooze-fest we had last week at Bristol.
