It’s finally official: Newman to Stewart Haas in ’09; no sponsor announced

The headline says it all. At about 10:30 this morning, Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart announced to the media in Michigan that Newman’s destination for next season is the No. 4 Chevrolet at Stewart Haas Racing. He will be a teammate to fellow Indiana native Stewart, who announced earlier this summer that he has acquired half-ownership in the team that is now Haas CNC Racing.

Kyle Busch is a Great Driver!

So lately I’ve read that the only way Kyle Busch can prove he’s a real driver, truly a great driver, is by winning the championship this year. Excuse me? Winning eight races, keeping the lead in the points race for most of the season so far, doing not merely double-duty, but triple-duty some weekends (AND winning races in each series), turning many of those boos that greeted him at the flag stand into cheers, even becoming a bit more civil to reporters and his fellow drivers isn’t “real” or “great”?
