Happy anniversary, honey!
I was able to get a few of you subscribed manually to the new Google Groups Stock Car Gazette mailing list before they started smacking my hand for doing so, so you might notice your Stock Car Gazette is slightly different this morning.
EVERYONE who is on the Google Groups mailng list by Wednesday, September 10, is ELIGIBLE for the contest, regardless of if you subcribed yourself, or if I subscribed you manually. Just thought I’d clear that up.
If you receive duplicate copies of the Stock Car Gazette, don’t panic. Drop me a note and I’ll take care of it.
THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE DURING THIS TRANSITION (and it ain’t over yet).
Check out all the latest NASCAR news, right here in the Stock Car Gazette. We may not be the biggest, but we do try our best to be the best.

As expected, Logano to the 20 car; Home Depot and Zippy to remain
As with most Silly Season announcements made this season, the unveiling of Joey Logano as Tony Stewart’s replacement in the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota was no secret. Joe and J.D. Gibbs held a press conference Monday afternoon to announce the 18-year-old driving prodigy’s promotion to the Sprint Cup Series. Joe Gibbs Racing also announced that Greg Zipadelli will remain as crew chief of the No. 20 team and that Home Depot will continue to sponsor the team, something it has done since Tony Stewart joined the Cup Series since 1999.

As you have probably noticed, we are in the process of moving our Stock Car Gazette e-zine mailing list from our web host’s system (Mailman) to Google Groups.
For a number of reasons, we’re really wanting everyone to make the jump to Google Groups as soon as possible. Google Groups is (at the moment) dragging their feet about approving our mass moves of the Stock Car Gazette mailing list from our site-hosted Mailman installation to Google Groups.
So as an incentive for you to make the jump yourself, and with the support of Fanscape, we’re running a contest. The only way you can win is to be “enrolled” by being a member of our Stock Car Gazette e-zine, hosted by Google Groups.

Prizes will be randomly drawn from Google Groups’ list of Stock Car Gazette subscribers as of Wednesday, September 10th, 2008, and include:
- GRAND PRIZE: One free membership to Pay the Fan’s PTF Cup fantasy racing game. For more information on the PTF Cup game, click here. There are also instructions and rules for PTF Cup here. Pay the Fan’s The PTF Cup offers a $150,000 cash grand prize to the winner of the 10 week game. The normal cost to join this game is $29.95. If you win the grand prize in our Stock Car Gazette contest drawing, you will receive this membership free.
- 2 Pay the Fan can coolers
- 2 Pay the Fan Tervis Tumbler Coffee Mugs
- 2 Pay the Fan Tervis Tumbler Tea Glasses
- Pay the Fan Baseball hat
Remember, the ONLY way to win is to be subscribed to our Stock Car Gazette e-zine on Google Groups before Wednesday, September 10th, 2008.

Joe Gibbs Racing announced today that The Home Depot will continue its sponsorship of the Sprint Cup #20 Toyota team in 2009 and beyond, and that Joey Logano, one of the sport’s brightest emerging stars, will take over the duties behind the wheel of one of NASCAR’s most successful race teams.
Logano will make his NASCAR Spirit Cup series debut on Sept. 6 at Richmond International Raceway in a Home Depot sponsored car featuring a reverse color scheme and bearing the #02.
In addition, Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Greg Zipadelli, crew chief of the #20 Home Depot Toyota Sprint Cup Series for the past 10 years, will remain atop the pit box as Logano’s crew chief.

BRISTOL, Tenn. — If the planned changes to the Sprint Cup testing policy remain as proposed for 2009, teams and crew chiefs will have to deal with a vastly different set of variables from those currently in place.
The crux of NASCAR’s new policy is to allow teams to test independently at tracks that host Cup races, something they currently are allowed to do only at open tests conducted under NASCAR’s auspices.
