Mears Out; Martin In? Stewart sponsor search? Silly Season takes several turns

Following Kyle Busch’s whipping of the field at Infineon Raceway, rumors surfaced regarding the futures of Mark Martin, Aric Almirola, and Casey Mears.

Today, both Rick Hendrick and Casey Mears announced that Mears will not be the driver of the No. 5 Kellog’s/Carquest Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports next season.

On Sunday, DEI announced that it wants to run part-time rookie Aric Almirola full-time next season, meaning Martin, the primary driver of the No. 8 U.S. Army Chevy, does not have a seat at DEI.
