TV Times - Cup Race Viewer Ratings Continue Upward Trend

Category: TV Times — Author: Lou Modestino @ 6:13 am

TV Times, by Lou Modestino   The Bristol TV ratings are up and have been consistent since Daytona.

NASCAR on Fox posted a 5.0/11 for racing from Bristol Sunday, a +2 percent gain over the same race a year ago and the third straight week that NASCAR has posted a year-to-year increase in the metered markets. Season-to-date, NASCAR on Fox is now averaging a 6.5/13 in the metered markets, a +7 percent boost over last year’s 6.1/12. This report came from the Fox PR office and the Jayski.com web page.

The reason for this good news is no doubt due to the fact that folks can’t afford to go to many events and are now watching on TV. We’ve seen some empty seats at some of the events this year. But, NASCAR and the host tracks can take some consolation in the uptick in the TV ratings while ticket sales are obviously off.

Martinsville 101

Category: Water From The Well(s) — Author: Mike Wells @ 5:59 am

What do you think about when you hear the words “Pretty Paperclip”? I bet it’s not Martinsville Speedway.

The speedway is in the shape of a paperclip and is in the opinion of some people “The Pretty Paperclip Track”. At 0.526 miles (847 meters) in length, it is the shortest track in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The track was also one of the first paved “speedways” in NASCAR, being built in 1947 by H. Clay Earles.

Bonfire! Sick As A Dog

Category: Bonfire! — Author: Lonnie Bernarde @ 8:38 pm
Cautions! What happened to them at Bristol? Though it was somewhat exciting with a few laps to go with Tony getting dumped by something other than Goodyear. The rest of the race was ho-hum without anything earth shocking.

Might have had something to do with the toughness of the COT. There were some pretty hard hits into the wall from the rear (i.e. 18), but no real damage as baby Busch and a number of others barely went a lap down after scraping their rear end on the wall. Heck, I’ve seen dogs lose more after scraping their hind part on the carpet.

Sportsmanship

Category: Robyn Reacts! — Author: Robyn Snell @ 12:48 pm

Sportsmanship (definition from Webster Dictionary): conduct (as fairness, respect for one’s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing) becoming to one participating in a sport.

As we observe sports from NASCAR, baseball, football, hockey, dance and soccer (just to name a few), it appears America has lost the basic concept for sportsmanship.

TV Times - Atlanta Sprint Cup Race Viewer Ratings Up Over 19 Percent

Category: TV Times — Author: Lou Modestino @ 12:09 am
TV Times, by Lou Modestino   The overnight ratings went up! Fox’s broadcast of that Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway earned a 5.6 overnight Nielsen Media Research rating and a 12 market share, Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily reports. The rating is 19.1 percent higher than the 4.7/10 the race earned overnight last year.

Remarkably, FOX’s 5.6/12 for the race nearly matched the combined ratings of head-to-head competition on ABC, CBS, and NBC (5.7/12), and when national ratings are released it’s likely that FOX will beat that three-network total.

Bible Verse of the Day

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
