DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 28, 2008) — The 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 17 – the most anticipated event in racing history – will carry a record purse of more than $18 million.

Editor’s note: I’m not sure who’s doing the data collection for NASCAR out west, but they could take a lesson from how Daytona did it for their testing.
Chip Ganassi put his team in position to win again and they did. Not only did they win the Rolex 24 at Daytona, but they did it in a stunning fashion dominating the latter stages of the race and leading the most laps. And it was the third win in a row for Ganassi Racing in the Rolex 24.
The team of drivers included Grand Am veteran and sometime Cup driver Scott Pruett, Rolex regular Memo Rojas alongside Ganassi Cup drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Dario Franchitti.
