Track Trash – Our Ole Homestead

by Racing Maniac ~ November 18th, 2007 @ 9:19 pm

Hail to the King. No, not JJ. To King Petty. He does not speak with forked tongue…….

You know, for the next few months it’s gonna be nice to be able to watch NFL games. The great thing is that if you don’t like the one you’re watching, you can always punch in another channel and watch a more exciting game. TV Times - Phoenix Cup Race Ratings Down 17.5 Percent

by Lou Modestino ~ November 18th, 2007 @ 9:08 pm

ABC’s broadcast of that Sunday’s Checker Auto Parts 500 Nextel Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway earned a 3.4 overnight Nielsen Media Research rating, Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily reports. The figure is 17.3 percent lower than the 4.1 NBC earned overnight for the same race last year. This report came from SceneDaily and Stockcargazette.com on the internet.

NASCAR ended its season last Sunday with ratings down again this year. And while it has fan interest beyond its Southern base, it’s still an also-ran in big cities outside the South. This season’s NASCAR Nextel Cup races airing on Fox, TNT, ESPN and ABC averaged 4.2 percent of U.S. TV households down 9 percent from last year’s average and off 21 percent from 2005. ABC’s Checker Auto Parts 500 that Sunday saw Jimmie Johnson virtually nail down the season points title showed interest still is largely regional. The race drew 10.5 percent of households in Greenville, S.C., 9.1 percent in Knoxville, Tenn. and 7.9 percent in Birmingham, Ala. But it drew just 1.3 percent in New York, 1.9 percent in Los Angeles and 2.4 percent in Chicago. This came from jayski.com and stockcargazette.com.
