Bill Davis Racing officials announced Tuesday that driver Jeremy Mayfield will not return to the team next year.
Robby Gordon Motorsports will field Australian Marcos Ambrose in the Busch Series rookie’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series debut at Watkins Glen this weekend.
This is after a controversial situation in last week’s Busch series race where Ambrose was soundly punted out of Gordon’s way by an application of the “chrome horn”, eventually leading to Gordon’s $35,000 fine and probation until December 31, 2007.
Here’s what Ambrose and Gordon both had to say about this surprising deal.
