Casey Mears saw a Busch series win slip away in the draft as a late race caution and a green, white checker finish allowed Bobby Labonte to move from the seventh position to the point besting Mears, and just edging KHI teammate Tony Stewart for his first series win since 1998.

Sunday’s run at Talladega will be the last performance of what we have watched evolve into the NASCAR stock car for the Nextel Cup division. The superspeedway will become the first restrictor-plate track to host the new Car of Tomorrow racing machine when teams return to Alabama in October.

In an article written by Nate Ryan on the USAToday website,, Tony Stewart is quoted from his Sirius radio show as saying he believes NASCAR is “playing God” by using caution flags to orchestrate closer racing.

Furniture Row Racing had a weekend of ups and downs at Phoenix. After a 29th place qualifying run, driver Kenny Wallace and the #78 team were optimistic about the outcome of the race.
