Penalties Handed Down to Michael Waltrip Racing!

Crew chief Dave Hyder suspended “indefinately”, fined $100,000
VP Bobby Kennedy suspended “indefinately”
Mikey fined 100 championship points and Elizabeth “Buffy” Waltrip was fined 100 owner points
Mikey will be allowed to race in the Duels in a David Reutimann backup car which is being rebranded as a #55 NAPA Camry.
His qualifying time was disallowed.

The officials called the foreign substance an “oxygenate”(sp?), but would not specifically identify the substance. (Speed TV)

Rumor: JET FUEL(??!?) in the #55? Mystery Substance Also Rumored To Be In Fuel Cell

Jayski is reporting that SPEED says an announcement is coming this afternoon, could be as soon as the last Cup practice of the day is run [around 3:00pm/et], hearing another report that the ’substance’ could be jet fuel.

Speed TV’s website says that unconfirmed reports indicated that the substance found in the intake manifold of Waltrip’s car was also found in its fuel cell. If that proves to be true, extremely harsh punishment is expected to follow.

#55 Team Director of Competition Bobby Kennedy Just Escorted Out of the Speedway

Speed’s Kristin Voda just reported that she witnessed NASCAR official Robin Pemberton escorting #55 Director of Competition Bobby Kennedy out of the Daytona Int. Speedway. More on this and other #55 news as we hear it…

(Our apologies… we had mistakenly put “David” instead of “Bobby”… getting the first name of Waltrip’s crew chief mixed up with the last name of his team manager… fixed now.)
