Well football fans, it looks like our aggravation over the lockout is finally ending. You can be sure that there will be a 2011 football season as the players are officially practicing with their coaches. Teams are already sending out season tickets, and all over Houston, fans are buying their Houston Texans tickets. Fans are becoming restless as preseason approaches; especially after the cancellation of the Hall of Fame game between the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Rams, which was to take place on August 7. BRISTOL, Tenn. (Thursday, March 17, 2011) – If there is any doubt that four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon is more than ready to launch an all-out assault on the 2011 title, his song of choice for Sunday’s Jeff Byrd 500 Presented by Food City driver introductions should erase any uncertainty.
Gordon, who has 83 Sprint Cup victories, including this year’s win at Phoenix, will make his Bristol Motor Speedway entrance to Tom Petty’s defiant “I Won’t Back Down.” A year ago, Brad Keselowski, who ended up winning the 2010 Nationwide title, selected that same song.

With gasoline prices on the rise and questions abounding about supply, the Camping World Truck Series running at Darlington Raceway and Atlanta Motor Speedway hosting an open house on what used to be its spring Sprint Cup date, this weekend has the feel of the spring of 1974.
In 1974, a gasoline shortage saw prices at the pump rise from an average of 38.5 cents a gallon to 55.1 cents, but the real problem was a shortage of fuel. Race teams including the Wood Brothers, regularly carried extra fuel in their haulers on cross-country trips just to make certain they wouldn’t run dry on the highway.
NASCAR chipped in by cutting the length of its races 10 percent.
But an even bigger story in the NASCAR garage was the series of engine rule changes.
