Kerry Earnhardt has been racing since the early 1990’s. Son of the legendary, 7-time NASCAR Champion Dale Earnhardt, Kerry claimed the Rookie of the Year title driving the Late Model Stock ranks before he started running select Bush Series races in 1998 / 1999. Earnhardt moved to the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) Series in 2000. In six starts, he posted four top five finishes and a first victory celebrated at Pocono Speedway in the Winner’s Circle with his proud father. During the same season, Kerry made his debut in NASCAR’s Winston Cup Series when he raced at Michigan International Speedway competing against both his father and his brother. Kerry claimed three ARCA victories in 2001 including a win at Lowes Motor Speedway and then went on to compete within all three divisions of NASCAR.

Kerry’s same passion for racing is reflected in his commitment to the great outdoors. Today he has swapped the driver’s seat for the tree stand. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast committed to supporting and educating the importance of land and animal preservation and conservation.

About Haley Heath
At first glance, Haley Heath is a striking young woman with a friendly smile and obvious warmth. She is the dedicated mother of two young children and wife of her 1st grade sweetheart, G.O. She is a devoted daughter and dependable sister and the kind of person you quickly call friend.

This All-American girl-next-door is also a fifth- generation avid outdoorsman with a passion for the pursuit of wild game. Her love of hunting was honed at her father’s knee as he patiently introduced her to the outdoors. Her first claim to fame was when, at the age of 6, she shot her first deer, a basket-rack, seven-pointer that still hangs proudly on her wall today. Since those early days, the size of her trophies has increased along with her fame.

What began in 2006 with Haley’s participation in a ‘Survivor-like’ competition on the ESPN television show, “ESPN’s Ultimate Outdoorsmen Search,” evolved into the popular television show, Family Traditions with Haley Heath.

Since the show began, Haley has earned much-deserved recognition. In 2008, she was the first woman to receive the “Viewer Favorite Personality” Sportsman Award. In 2009, she was appointed as the Ambassador for The Sportsman Channel’s organization Hunt Fish Feed, which works to feed needy families. In 2009, Haley was highlighted in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and ABC Nightly World News.

Today, Haley is the host of Family Traditions with Haley Heath and earns the respect of hunting enthusiasts around the world.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 31, 2011 – The second annual DIRECTV Head2Head Knockout competition ended at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday when Brad Keselowski took the checkered flag and secured the DIRECTV Head2Head Knockout title, earning $199,375 for Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The DIRECTV Head2Head Knockout competition placed 32 NASCAR Sprint Cup SeriesTM drivers in a bracket-format competition for charity. DIRECTV, the exclusive provider of the NASCAR HotPassTM broadcast, donated $400,000 to driver charities during the course of the competition while fans competed for prizes and a chance at $1 million.

“Winning at Bristol was special on many levels, not the least of which was the fact that we were able to capture the DIRECTV Head2Head Knockout title,” said Keselowski. “I know first-hand the outstanding work that the Paralyzed Veterans of America do for our injured military heroes. It was an honor to represent them in this competition.”

Paralyzed Veterans of America is a national non-profit that changes lives and builds brighter futures for seriously injured military members. In 65 years the organization has built 34 chapters that represent thousands of veterans in 50 states and Puerto Rico.

“We are grateful to have these NASCAR drivers and DIRECTV supporting our mission and congratulate the Penske Racing team and driver Brad Keselowski for his win,” said Bill Lawson, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “With their help and support and the generous donation put forth by DIRECTV, we will be able to continue changing the lives of our wounded heroes, and reach an even wider audience to raise awareness about our paralyzed veterans’ greatest needs: care, benefits and jobs.”

Behind Keselowski, the Fastest Four drivers in the high-stakes competition included Matt Kenseth, racing for Motor Racing Outreach; Clint Bowyer for Emporia Kansas Community Foundation; and Jeff Gordon for The Jeff Gordon Foundation. Each of the Fastest Four earned $39,375 for their perspective charities.

Kentucky Dept. of Transportation to enhance parking access with improvements to highway infrastructure

SPARTA, Ky. – Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (SMI) announces the acquisition of a 143-acre parcel of land that will be used to greatly expand Kentucky Speedway parking and the hiring of professional parking and engineering services to best manage automotive and pedestrian traffic flows during venue event days.

Because of the actions taken by the Speedway, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) pledged to improve surrounding highways to allow faster access to expanded parking areas.

“We learned meaningful lessons during our inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend and we committed that the traffic congestion that occurred on race day would not happen again. It was important for us to act quickly and I am thrilled to report this solution, which was formed in only seven short weeks. I compliment and thank SMI Chairman and CEO Bruton Smith, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear and KYTC Sec. Mike Hancock for working collaboratively on this plan,” Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger said.

The expansive parcel located east of the 107,000 capacity facility and state Highway 35 is expected to increase available event parking by 35 percent. The speedway will further improve its parking operation by reinforcing all areas with gravel and painting guidelines to help maximize available space.

Veteran’s Security and Patrol Co., which has extensive experience managing parking during events at prominent motorsports venues such as Daytona International Speedway, Pocono Raceway and Watkins Glen International, will begin servicing the speedway in October. Kentucky Speedway will additionally retain the services of a traffic engineering company that will employ sophisticated modeling techniques to assimilate the new improvements with existing infrastructure to create the best possible traffic management plan.

SMI will invest an estimated $7.5 million in its service and parking improvements. The company has already begun engineering the newly-acquired land.

“Kentucky Speedway is a premier destination for the country’s best racing, and it’s clear that tens of thousands of people want to be right here to experience those events. The NASCAR race weekend this July was a huge success, but it did experience traffic problems, caused largely by inadequate parking,” said Gov. Beshear. “To assure visitors have an even better experience next year, we’ve worked hand in hand with SMI to plan improvements that will benefit fans on race day and Gallatin County residents year-round.”

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) complemented the SMI commitments by approving several enhancements to existing infrastructure that will assist in moving traffic more quickly during future race events. Enhancements will:

· Improve the Interstate 71 Exit 57 southbound ramp shoulder to allow three lanes of traffic to exit to KY 35 and directly access staggered speedway entrances during event days;

· Improve nearly one mile of KY 35 from the I-71 interchange. Approximately 0.6 of a mile of KY 35 will be widened to five lanes with two full width shoulders to better service two primary speedway access roads and improve daily traffic flow to Warsaw;

· Construct a tunnel beneath state KY 35 to safely and efficiently route pedestrian traffic to shuttles which transport fans to speedway gates.

The Cabinet will support the $3.6 million project with its contingency fund, and plans to present the project for bid by the end of 2011 to ensure work will be complete before the summer of 2012.

The speedway will close out its 2011 campaign Oct. 1-2 with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights events. The action-packed weekend opens Saturday, Oct. 1 with a full day of IZOD IndyCar Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice and qualifying before truck competitors engage a 225-mile tilt at 8:00 p.m. Racing continues Sunday, Oct. 2 when Firestone Indy Lights talents take the green flag for a 100-mile race at noon before IZOD IndyCar Series stars Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, Danica Patrick and Will Power open a 300-mile tilt at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets, campsites and infield Fan Zone passes for all weekend events can be reserved by visiting http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com or calling 888-652-7223.

The winning driver of the head to head race (i.e. Dale Jr. goes against Mark Martin, Dale finishes in 7th place in his race, while Martin finishes in 15th, Martin is then eliminated and Dale Jr. moves on to the second round) then advances to compete another day. The competition kicks off at. Pocono on August 7th and runs for 3 weeks until the “fastest four” are left and compete for the Championship at the August 27th race at Bristol.

The fan with the most accurate picks will win a brand new truck from the manufacturer of the winning driver.(i.e. Dale Jr. wins the contest, thus the fan who “wins” gets a Chevy Truck since Dale drives a Chevy) A perfect bracket results in the chance to win $1,000,000. Drivers will be competing on behalf of their favorite charities, with a total of $400,000 being awarded to help great causes.

The contest starts on August 7th so be sure to get your entries in soon!

Drivers will go head to head against a new competitor each week in a single-elimination format. Drivers advance by finishing higher than the driver they are matched up against. After three rounds, they will be narrowed down to the Fastest Four, who will trade paint for DIRECTV’S NASCAR® Head2Head Knockout Championship at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Following is a schedule for DIRECTV’s NASCAR Head2Head Knockout competition in 2011:

Round One on Aug. 7 (Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono)

Round Two on Aug. 14 (Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen at Watkins Glen)

Round Three on Aug. 21 (Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan Speedway)

“The Fastest Four” on Aug. 27 (Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway)

Some notable match-ups in the 1st round lineup are Jeff Gordon vs. Jeff Burton in the “battle of the Jeffs”. Give Gordon the nod in this one as he’s been consistent lately, and Burton’s been slumping along with his RCR teammates for the most part.

Havick, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, and Earnhardt Jr. will have little problems advancing to the 2nd round, where I see Havick going up against Montoya, Newman against Kyle Busch, and Dale Jr. against Biffle.

One other interesting match-up is between #14 Tony Stewart and his old #20, now driven by Joey Logano. Look for Stewart to move on in this one. Edwards, Martin, and Hamlin will also likely move on to round 2.

Your opinions will (very likely) vary. I’ll be playing so get in there and see if your picks really are better than mine.

Well football fans, it looks like our aggravation over the lockout is finally ending. You can be sure that there will be a 2011 football season as the players are officially practicing with their coaches. Teams are already sending out season tickets, and all over Houston, fans are buying their Houston Texans tickets. Fans are becoming restless as preseason approaches; especially after the cancellation of the Hall of Fame game between the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Rams, which was to take place on August 7. Here is a recap of the NFL lockout…

On July 20, the NFL Players Association met to vote on a settlement, failing to do so by citing lingering issues that need amending. These lingering issues included three court cases: the antitrust lawsuit, the TV networks case where the players accused the owners of setting up a $4 billion “lockout insurance” which the league would receive if there was no 2011 season, and the case in which the players accused the owners of restricting salaries during the off-season. By Wednesday evening, it seemed that, despite some issues, a settlement would soon be made.

Thursday brought on the drama, as the 32 owners met in Atlanta to discuss the deal and the settlement. In what will soon be known as one of the biggest NFL controversies in this century, league owners held a press conference Thursday evening to announce that they had approved the new CBA (31-0, with Oakland Raiders abstaining) and that a deal had been made; if the players would agree, facilities could be open on Saturday. And a deal had been made… on the owners’ side. While the owners were out celebrating, the players had not even seen the 400 page document signed by the owners. The players were not happy when they heard the news, calling the announcement and the new CBA a “power-play” and claiming the owners tried to slip in many things that had not been agreed upon.

The owners’ plan to bring in the public opinion and place the bull’s eye directly on the players backfired. If the owners wanted to use the pressure of the public to push the players into a concord, they have been deeply disillusioned. Players’ Association executive director DeMaurice Smith told constituents Thursday evening, “There is no agreement between the NFL and the NFLPA right now.” Instead of compelling the players to sign a deal, the owners’ actions alienated the players, causing them to step back from the table to take some time to think about the deal. The owners have given the players until Tuesday to sign the new CBA.

The owners want to reap the monetary rewards they have come to expect every season; the players are itching to get back into their uniforms and back on the field; the fans are ready to tailgate and spend their Sunday afternoons watching their favorite sport. In an interview July 25 with the NFL Network, Arizona Cardinals’ DT Darnell Dockett professed, “I’m fired up because I can see the light. I’m excited to get our team back together.” With an agreement between owners and players, and players ready to end this mess, fans everywhere are celebrating the start of the 2011 NFL season. Houston Texans blogs all over the internet are saying one thing: fans are ready for the drama to end and the season to begin.

MyTicketIn.com is a Houston area ticket service, so we know how important football tickets, especially Texans tickets are to the fans. But this company doesn’t just sell Texans tickets. They sell all kinds of sporting tickets, theater tickets, and concert tickets. When the beginning of March rolls around, Houston Rodeo tickets are extremely popular for Houston Rodeo Games. Who wouldn’t want to see a sporting event and a concert wrapped up into one evening? MyTicketIn.com is Houston’s most reliable online source for tickets, so check out the website and get your ticket into your favorite event. If you’re as excited about football as we are, check out our website to see how you can win two front row, 50-yard line tickets to every home Houston Texans game!
