Mark Martin Wins Vegas in Wild Finish

NASCAR Preseason Thunder Day 13: Aussie Ambrose Ready For Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Australian Marcos Ambrose has a pair of NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Daytona International Speedway under his belt and is itching to get on track for the season-opening Camping World 300 presented by Chevy on Saturday, Feb. 16.

“This is first race of the season, this is the first repeat,” Ambrose said. “Last year was my very first try. This is my first repeat. I can’t wait to get out there and get amongst it and I feel like we have great shot.”

Ambrose has helped take NASCAR global in Australia. He is a two-time Australian V8 Supercar champion and in his first NASCAR Nationwide Series season in 2007, he finished eighth in points.

Go or Go Home Drivers to Qualify Together; NASCAR to Provide Tires for Tests

Michael Waltrip suggested last season that drivers outside the top 35 in owners’ points should be allowed to qualify together so nobody would have an advantage in track conditions.

NASCAR officials must have listened.

The governing body kicked off its annual media tour by announcing that those outside the top 35 in all three series — Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series — will qualify at the end of their respective session.

It also was announced that teams will be provided tires for testing at non-sanctioned NASCAR tests. Sprint Cup teams will be given 200 tires, Nationwide teams 160 and Craftsman Truck Series teams 120.(ESPN, courtesy of Jayski)

NASCAR Preseason Thunder Day 12: Sponsor Woes Have Keller’s Status In Limbo

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jason Keller is testing with CJM Racing this weekend at Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the season- opening Camping World 300 presented by Chevy NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Keller just hopes he’ll be racing at Daytona International Speedway with CJM come February.

Sponsor uncertainties have left Keller’s plans with CJM Racing for the 2008 season in limbo.
