Hit Me With Your Best “Cheap Shot”

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Becky Davidson @ 5:50 am

A planned set up went wrong for one team and went great for another. The “Cheap Shot” I am referring to is the one that ended up happening this past Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway.

Drug Testing in NASCAR

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: John Kokolski @ 5:44 am

A year or so when I wrote my last column for this site, I said that I was leaving permanently. At that time there were several issues that I could not write about.

I am going to start by this column by airing those out.

I’ve Got An (Im)Pounding Headache…

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Heather Meyer @ 3:31 pm

So pass the “rabbit relief” capsules…

Why is it, when there is an impound race, that the media jumps to the conclusion that the cars that have to make it in on time have a special qualifying set up?

Yes, these cars need to make the race in the first place, but don’t they need a decent finish too?

A Talladega “Short Track” Evening

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Doug Turnbull @ 1:13 pm

This is a tale of two stories in Talladega.

At Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR’s top two series and the millions of dollars that surround them duke it out through the last weekend in April. In those series, especially in the Nationwide Series, there is a big disparity between the performance of the well-funded teams and the small, grass-roots teams that travel track to track through the season.

The story is very similar across the road at the Talladega Short Track.

Things That Go “Bump” in the World of Stock Car Racing

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Becky Davidson @ 4:24 pm

Does anyone ever wonder if not into the too far distant future that Petty Enterprises might be considering selling or maybe merging with another owner? It makes me wonder if the move to Mooresville was for some not yet surfaced reasons too. There seems to be a lot going on and not going on at their camp.

I Will Miss You, Dale

Category: Misc. Columns, Sprint Cup — Author: Becky Davidson @ 5:41 am

At Bristol Motor Speedway another legendary driver hung up his keys and retired this past weekend.

I for one am happy to see Dale Jarrett join other’s like Rusty Wallace who were able to drive until they knew it was time to retire and they never looked back.

A Tough Lesson Learned (At Least It Should Be)

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Becky Davidson @ 5:49 am

I am wondering what is going through NASCAR’s mind regarding the #99 team.

I guess they are having a difficult time trying to figure out what penalty to hand out for the failed post race inspection by the 99 team.

Surely they are not even going to consider NO penalty. If they only take away 25 points it would be like no penalty. Nothing would surprise me though.

Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s 1998 Commemorative Die-cast a COT?

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Becky Davidson @ 1:00 am

As a fan of Dale Sr.’s from day one and who always will be, I can’t go without bringing up the special Daytona 500 Anniversary win car they unveiled this week created by Motorsports Authentics commemorating Dale Earnhardt’s first and only win of the Daytona 500 in 1998.

I am fortunate to own more than one of those 1998 die-cast in my collection of Earnhardt memorabilia.

Our National Anthem Deserves Respect, Mrs. Gordon!

Category: Misc. Columns — Author: Becky Davidson @ 1:00 am

I have read only a few comments on the Internet since the running of the Bud Shootout about Mrs. Gordon, who was standing by Jeff and playing with his hair during the singing of our National Anthem.

I have read more comments in groups of NASCAR fans that I am a member of who this upset more then the news media it seems, including long time Jeff Gordon fans.
