This week’s race is either going to tighten the race for the Craftsman Truck Series championship or spread Ron Hornaday and Johnny Benson further apart.
Going into last week’s race at Talladega, Benson led Hornaday by one point, when the dust cleared, Hornaday passed Benson for a new lead of 39 points with five races left to decide this year’s champion.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 17, 2008) – NASCAR announced today the No. 30, No. 11 and No. 9 teams that compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series have been penalized due to their involvement in a post-race altercation on pit road at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sept. 13.
Those penalized violated Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4-F (team members involved in an altercation with another competitor on pit road after the race had concluded).

Ron Hornaday Jr., the defending champion of the Craftsman Truck Series, met NASCAR officials Friday to discuss his admission that he took testosterone during the 2005 season.

Kyle Busch wins another one in a hard-fought NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series battle at Bristol Wednesday night… Todd Bodine was second, with a strong showing by Scott Speed (who started on the pole) in third. Points leader Johnny Benson was strong all night, but finished fourth.

The loss of a loved one can bring the best and the worst out of someone, especially when that loved is as much of a presence as Bobby Hamilton was. Hamilton was never what one would call a superstar, but he did finish his Sprint Cup career with four wins and one top-10 finish in the points. He was the first driver to win in the #43 STP car after Richard Petty retired and won a Craftsman Truck Series championship in 2004, driving for and owning his own multi-truck team.
