In a recent Detroit Free Press article by Mike Brudenell, Mike asked readers their thoughts of the Chase, which he is still personally leery of.
It is good fodder for a story and gets out the frustration that many fans feel. I have done the same as well as others. And while I am not in love with the Chase either, the fans don’t seem to have a better answer than NASCAR at this point.

Normally, I would say that only time will tell who is right in the current Mayfield/NASCAR Methgate 2009 saga, but I am not sure of that now.
Mayfield and NASCAR seem to be throwing sticks at each other over what constitutes a “good” lab for testing. According to Mayfield, all the labs NASCAR approved are buddies with their testing guy. NASCAR has drawn a line in the sand over testing and is not budging — as they are wont to do. Rarely does NASCAR ever move off the dime on anything once they have announced a decision or policy. NASCAR has denied every lab Mayfield has produced. It is a Mexican standoff.

A recent article by Jeff Owens of NASCAR Scene got me thinking a bit more about NASCAR restrictor plate racing.
Love it or hate it, plate racing has been a mainstay in NASCAR Cup series as the braintrust attempts to keep the speeds at acceptable levels. Eanhardt Ganassi Racing announced that the number made famous by Dale Earnhardt, Jr. — and Budweiser — has shut down operations due to lack of sponsorship, thus leaving driver Aric Almirola looking for a ride.

NASCAR powerhouse and uber team Hendrick Motorsports has fallen on hard times. Or so it seems in the early part of the season.
If not for Jeff Gordon, Hendrick would be having an embarrassing start to the season. Coming off of his third title in a row, the newly bearded Jimmie Johnson sits thirteenth in points thanks to a ninth place run at Atlanta.
