NASCAR Playoffs Tornado Lands In Kansas… Hey, Is That Toto Over There?

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

It will be the NASCAR tornado making news this weekend in the land Dorothy, Toto and the Tin Man made famous. The third round of the Nextel Cup championship playoffs will be at Kansas Speedway, a 1.5-mile speedway that is younger than Dorothy was when she strolled down that Yellow Brick Road.

Chase Heads To Horse Racing Country Of Delaware

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Round two of the high-speed NASCAR playoffs will feature horsepower instead of the horse racing the area around Dover Downs is accustomed to enjoying. Jimmie Johnson rides into Delaware on his high horse as the champion—so far, but he is actually tied in the point total with his owner/teammate Jeff Gordon.

Johnson and Gordon each have 5,210 points following the first playoff race at New Hampshire. NASCAR awards first place on the point chart to the driver with the most wins when there is a tie. Johnson has six wins and Gordon four, so that gives Johnson top-billing rights.

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

You might have heard some talk about television ratings being down for NASCAR races recently.

There have also been some empty seats at some of the speedways, but I don’t think there will be any trouble at all attracting television and grandstand viewers for this week’s episode of Bristol survivor.

NASCAR Makes News Heading To Motor City

Friday, August 17th, 2007

There were plenty of headlines being made to serve as a calling card that NASCAR was on the way to Motown. The halls of the automaker offices were buzzing with the news of driver changes, lawsuit judgments and the hint that Tony Stewart might not be in the Chevrolet machines he has piloted for his entire Nextel Cup career.
