Our recent switch to Toyota is a strong testament to our focus and commitment to become more competitive. Even though we were disappointed it became necessary to miss two races to complete the transition to Toyota. We were excited about the potential for the balance of the 2008 season. That excitement was abruptly interrupted this past week by news that a primary sponsorship deal once planned for the majority of the 2008 season had been reduced to a fraction of a season and that fraction will likely be in the fall. One of our correspondents who has some ties with one of the Sprint Cup teams who use Hendrick Motorsports leased engines is reporting that all of the Hendrick Motorsports teams are experiencing lifter problems with their engines, and are contemplating engine changes for all teams. Joe Gibbs resigned as coach and team president of the Washington Redskins on Tuesday. The Redskins said in a statement that Gibbs will remain part of the Redskins family and serve as a special adviser to owner Dan Snyder. Gibbs was to discuss his decision at a 3 p.m. news conference at Redskins Park. The article, available here to read, did not mention anything about Gibbs’ involvement in motorsports.
