Top Ten Things NOT To Do When Climbing Up The Racing Ranks!

So, after playing around in one of the feeder racing organizations of the wondrous sport of stock car racing, I decided to put together the Top Ten Things that I witnessed “unbeknownst” to a few knuckle-headed drivers (drivers not racers…key word being racers).
Any of these things could keep you from going any further upward in motorsports …
10. Do not make promises that you cannot keep! or have no intention on keeping. For example, promising your “donated free time” pit crew that you will take them all the way top the top with you and then dumping them for the next season for a different opportunity within a different series..
9. Permitting your girlfriend to show public affection to you during an on track autograph session (I am not talking about a little smooch either!).
8. Letting numerous friends and family members sign in under the team owner’s name to obtain pit access, so they do not have to pay for it. Duh, like the team owner won’t find out about it!
7. Driving on local road ways like you were driving on a race track. Too many speeding tickets and points accumulated on your drivers license could put a damper on you receiving your NASCAR license.
6. OVER COMMITTING, like lining up deal after deal to drive in different series on simultaneous dates. One or more of your team owners will react negatively to such a plan. Team owners may just sell your race car and move on….
5. Not assuming responsibility when you make an incorrect judgement call on the track and cause a wreck. Don’t get in front of the camera and sling mud toward your fellow drivers..I know, I know, they all do it and this creates great drama for television…I am referring to up and coming drivers….
4. Remember that your reputation will precede you….Positively or Negatively….
3. Be prompt for all race-related functions. If you do not care enough to show up on time for a function, do you really have the responsibility it takes to race?
2. Remember where you came from and how many individuals got you where you are today.
And the NUMBER 1 thing NOT to do is… Drum Roll Please……
1. If you were fortunate enough to land in the top ten and attend the season end banquet, do not forget payment for services rendered by your PR representative, or any other individual who assisted getting you where you are today… Pay your people to stay credible.
Until Next Time…

LOL … and as a friend and her editor, I know she speaks from close personal experience. I even had to tone it down a little bit
But if there’s any beans to be spilled, I’d rather let her do it.
