After searching around the web today, I collected some of the notable quotes from the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Awards Banquet for you to enjoy.
Bill France Jr. was impressed by no one, and that included himself.
–> Tom Brokaw
If there’s something you want to do, don’t let anything stand in your way.
–> Carl Edwards
The best days of this sport are ahead of it, not behind it.
–> Jeff Burton
This is the greatest sport, with the greatest fans.
–> Kurt Busch
Thank you, Eva.
–> Kyle Busch, humorously repeating his gaffe’ from the ‘06 Awards Banquet where he thanked his brother Kurt’s girlfriend instead of his own.
I get the one guy who wasn’t good enough to be in the actual race to drive me around.
David Spade, on riding along with NBC’s Wally Dallenbach at Darlington two years ago
Since I’m not married, he (crew chief Greg Zipadelli) had to fill the wife role in the video. (audience laughs)
Look out for Juan Pablo Montoya, with some work someday he’ll be a pretty good driver. (audience laughs)
–> Tony Stewart
Congrats ‘I guess’ to Jimmie and your team.
Kevin Harvick tells me what NOT to do.
Four years ago I was working in a garage in Emporia, Kansas, when my cell phone rang and it was Richard Childress.
–> Clint Bowyer
Not gonna cry. Skip that part.
–> Jeff Gordon, who did it anyway.
The thing is, you can’t lose sight of the fact that next year is coming. There is a next season. We have to make sure we’re on our game when we get there. That is probably a message more to myself than anybody else, to be quite honest with you.
–> Jimmie Johnson’s crew chief, Chad Knaus
My guys – where are you? Make some noise. D***, you’re good. Thank you. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and it just keeps getting better and better every year. Thank you so much. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and now we’re two-time champs.
To all the employees in all of the departments at Hendrick Motorsports, you may not get the recognition you deserve during the year because you’re back in the shop putting in the hours. I want to thank all of you for giving this team the tools to go out and win races and championships.
To be in this room as a champion, surrounded by the best in motorsports, is so special.
I promise I will stay in the golf cart this offseason.

The golf cart comment was the best one.
I don’t like the new point system it isn’t fair to lead all year and win with that lead then lose it at the last. Jeff Gordon would have two more championships under the old system,
I agree with Joe…I much prefer the old points system because it gives you a “TRUE” Champion. Gordon had 30 Top Ten Finishes and deserved this Championship! If you want to start all over and name a Champion based on just 10 races, then do away with the other 26! This is not football, it’s racing!
I don’t like the Chase either, but we need to get over it, because it isn’t going away, Jeff Gordon has accepted it, and it sure has affected him a lot more than it has his fans
Jeff Gordon fans are all cry babies.
Re: Gordon cry babies… whooo… let the flames start flyin’, boys!
(2 words removed by webmaster) 3 years into the new points system and they’re still crying about it. Get over it people. The points system is what it is and no amount of whining and cryin and “what might have been” talk are going to change it back.
Let’s face it gang.. as long as Brian France is running the show it’s only going in one direction and that’s straight down.. the man is a total A*****e, he’s put the sport back
at least 5 years…
And now craftsman will pull out… when does the wake up call kick in ???

MAN YOU GUYS THOUGHT THE CHASE WAS CONFUSING OR ALL THE YELLOW FLAGS..NO,NO,NO!!!IT WAS THE EXCELLENT ONE LINERS AT THE DINNER. SO THESE GUYS GO OVER 200 M.P.H.HUH…SO TONY GOT LUCKY THIS SEASON
HE HIT EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE OR WAS THAT JEFF GORDON??MAN,I AM GOING TO HAVE TO READ AND TUNE INTO THESE NASCAR T.V.NEWS COVERAGE MORE OFTEN.BECAUSE I AM WAY CONFUSED!!LIKE TONY STEWART IS.BECAUSE HE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THIS SPORT.BECAUSE THE CAMERA IS ONLY ON HIM AND HE AND SWEET JR.DIDN’T EVEN MAKE THE CHASE.AM I CORRECT OR NO??
