Notable Quotables: Harvick/Montoya/Stewart/Truex Jr.

Gee, Kevin, tell us what you were REALLY talking about!

I was talking about kicking his a** because that’s how I felt about it.

   - Kevin Harvick, when asked what he and Juan Pabbo Montoya “discussed” after their incident at Watkins Glen

JPM owns a donkey??

It wasn’t my fault. He was shouting and grabbing and I don’t appreciate that. I have a little respect for the guy; well I used to have a little respect for the guy … don’t push me around like I’m anybody.

   -Juan Pablo Montoya

OK, Juan Pablo, what SHOULD he have pushed you around like? Nobody?

I hate that I got into Juan Pablo. I got a great restart and he swerved down to block me. He hit the brakes aggressively and looked like he was already getting loose going into the corner and we made contact. That’s the first time I’ve been involved in anything like that since I’ve been Cup racing.

   - Martin Truex, Jr., accepting blame for the wreck.

So, should Kevin threaten Martin’s donkey, too?

I hear they still had the Hans and helmets on … If you’re not going to take ‘em off then don’t waste everyone’s time.

   - Tony Stewart

Tony was perhaps disappointed there were no tape recorders to fling around at each other, or photographers to push?

It doesn’t violate FCC [Federal Communications Commission] regulations.

   - NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp, about Kevin Harvick saying “a**” on national TV

But the PETA people are going to be up in arms about all this donkey violence!!

I don’t think they were fighting. They were discussing things.

   - Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition

Yeah, sure… probably something like “let go of my Lego!”

I thought it was cool as h***.

   - NASCAR Cup series director John Darby

I never thought h*** was “cool”. But it would have sounded odd if Darby said “it was hot as h***”, or perhaps, “cool as the Arctic”, wouldn’t it?

    Heard this from a witness:

    Kyle Busch classy guy?

(NOT) at Watkins Glen this past week.. he took a kids piece of paper he wanted him to autograph and flung it over his shoulder.

  • jeff

i think that since dale and tony got fined for saying s***, kevin should also follow suit for saying a** on tv.
there is not much difference in the cursing is there?
either that or give tony and dale their points and $$$ back!

  • I think NASCAR should quit trying to be interview cops & stick to administrating the races. After all they make there share of mistakes. If people don’t like the language watch something else or change the channel. This stuff of talking to a driver right after he has had a hot confrontation is bound to bring bad language. Keep the mic out of there face, or accept that S*** happens. Barry Roland, San Angelo, Texas

i don’t have a problem at all with the language, i’m just saying be consistent for the year.
after all those two lost points for a slip of the lip.
if it was me i’d probably owe nascar points by now!

C’mon Jeff – There are seven things that you can’t say on TV (ask George Carlin) and a** isn’t one of them. How many drivers over the years have said “my a** end is loose?” It was indeed very funny, except that several good cars got tore up.

“I thought it was cool as h***.
    - NASCAR Cup series director John Darby ”

GEE John Darby, what did you think of Robby Gordon a couple weeks ago? BTW, I do agree with you on Watkins Glen.

  • JOYCE LANE

NO HARM NO FOUL I JUST HATE THAT KEVIN WAS AT THE WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME BECAUSE HIS CAR WAS STARTING TO COME TO HIM I THINK HE WOULD HAVE FINISHED REALLY GOOD HE MIGHT HAVE HAD A GOOD CHANCE TO HAVE WON THE RACE.SO HE’S ALREADY LOST ENOUGHT BY FINISHING AS FOR BACK AS HE DID SO THE WORD HE USED A** THAT WORD IS IN THE BIBLE I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES.SOOOO!I WOULD SAY THAT WORD IS FINE BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN BULL SH** OR SH** IN THE BIBLE SO I WOULD SAY THAT WORD IS NOT OK.

  • Abigail Cohen

    yeah. i agree with joyce….

  • vw_ilove

well what can i say, i guess there are really no pacts between lions and men…

  • Dag-nabit! Invasion of privacy should be covered by ESPN listening in on driver/crewchief conversations. Take the mics away from the media…

200 degrees in the car and it starts acting different. Driver- excuse me chief, I think I may be experiencing a vibration. Oh, really old chap? Where might it be coming from? It is really bad right now sir, may I please return to my pit box so you can have the crew check it out for me?
By all means, bring it in and we will take a look at it for you.

    Instead of the old days..

Man, I have a shaker that’s rattling my a**- I’m bringin’ in this piece of s*** – see if you can get me back on track fast.

But that was before PC was in style.

ESPN really has been boring in their coverage so far. There’s no rapore between the guys behide the mics..at least when DJ was there, he held our interest.
