Jeffy, Jimmie, Casey, and… Junebug?

As one sports writer put it, “(It’s) like Bear Bryant’s son announcing he’s going to play football at Auburn.”

The biggest story of this season has been around Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his future plans.

A lot of people figured he’d go to Richard Childress Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, or perhaps even Ginn Racing.

Instead, Dale Jr. announced yesterday that he’s going to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008.

Actually, I think this is a very smart move for Dale. He’s stated all along that he wants to win championships. It was pretty obvious that wasn’t happening at DEI.

Hendrick Motorsports has 6 Cup championships, 3 Busch Series championships, and 1 Craftsman Truck championship, making it one of stock car racing’s premier organizations.

They obviously have the money and personnel to get the job done.

Traditional Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. fans seem to be almost guaranteed to be dislikers of Jeff Gordon. I’m not sure why that is, since Dale Sr. helped Jeff out quite a bit as he was getting started, and the two shared a friendship off the track, and fierce competition on the track.

Jeff Foxworthy says that people don’t like Jeff Gordon because he enunciates (speaks clearly). Maybe that’s it.

What’s your thoughts on Dale’s move to Hendrick Motorsports? Feel free to leave your comments below, but please remember this is a family website, and inappropriate comments will be edited or removed as the webmaster sees fit.

I am not a Hendrick fan or an Earnhardt fan, but I think this is a good move for both. But the pressure on Junior’s shoulders to produce is going to be tremendous.

We went from “Dream Team” with Gibbs to “Dweeb Team” with Hendrick.

Man, that has to be hard for Junior Nation to swallow.

Good luck, and by the way, how long till the uni-brow grows in. :) :)

It is not hard for Junior Nation, at least not for us true fans. True Junior fans will support him no matter where he goes, what number he drives or what sponser he has. At Hendrick he can win races, get better cars and not have to deal with the witch Teresa. We blame her for this, not Junior. He did what was in his best interest.

I think he will be much happier and have a much better time.

I feel that this isthe best chance Jr has to become the champion we all know he can be. Good Luck

  • i hear a lot of talk about jr.being on the same team as gordon.big deal i think 95 or maybe 99 percent of us root for a driver or drivers not teams

  • if you are a true jr. fan you will root for him wherever or whoever he drives for, i know that i will… good luck next year jr. heres hoping you get that championship that you are looking for.

It appeared to me at his latest announcement that Dale was extremely happy. He is doing what HE wants to do. I think his moving to another team, regardless of which one, will enhance his driving career so much more than if he were put in charge of DEI. Now he can focus on driving. It would seem that Gibbs or Hendricks are the leaders in ‘Chevrolet Racing’ and it sounds like he has had a relationship with Hendrick. Maybe Teresa has done him a favor. ‘Teresa bashing’ has got to stop. Dale Sr. was no idiot. He left 100% of DEI to her! While I’m sure he wasn’t planning on his death coming so soon, he had to know that every time he strapped on that helmet the possibilty existed. I think this is a great move for Dale. He doesn’t have to worry that his team isn’t doing everything it needs to win. That’s someone else’s worry, and Hendrick Motor Sports is proven. The pressure to perform is there now. Good luck to him! And good luck to Kyle! Maybe at DEI.
