Female Author Strives For “Total Control”

by Heather Meyer ~ June 4th, 2007. Filed under: Articles by Heather.

Pamela Britton has been writing books since 1995. More recently she’s been focusing on a specific genre… the female NASCAR fan…

Britton sold her first book in 2000. She says she always wanted to write NASCAR themed books.

Britton drag raced a 67 Camaro in high school. Her ex husband made parts for cars and went to school with Brian Vickers’ Red Bull Racing crew chief, Doug Richert. She’s even done scoring for some truck teams. Her favorite drivers are Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers.

Pamela’s first NASCAR race was in the early 1990s at Talladega. Her impression was “This is HUGE!” She remembered Ricky Rudd pulling up next to her in his Tide ride, and specifically putting down the window net for her to get a picture of him.

One of her other favorite track memories was in a ride along with Greg Biffle in his rented Lincoln Navigator at Infineon. She said he was driving about 90 mph one handed. As he drove the course, he was telling crew chief Doug Richert what his race car was doing at the different places on the track, while all the while her three year old was squealing with delight in the back seat.

Her first NASCAR book was “Dangerous Curves”, written in 1998 but published in 2005, followed by “In the Groove” (2006), “On The Edge” (2006), and “To the Limit” (March 2007).

The latest, “Total Control” is coming out in September 2007, and has a more serious plot line. She’s also co-authoring “NASCAR Christmas” due out November of this year.

She does admit that a character or two have been based on real people in NASCAR but won’t say which ones. Pamela sees her fan base growing through NASCAR.

She tries to make the Vegas race if not more during a year. She plans to make the Chase races this year promoting the new “Total Control” book.

Pamela has mixed feelings on the COT. She’s loved stock car racing since back in the day when it was true stock car racing.

If you’re ever in Northern California watch out for a white Mustang GT racing by. It just might be Pamela.

After checking out her website and talking with her, Pamela is a TRUE female NASCAR fan. She even buys NASCAR approved products over others.

Pamela, I’ve loved your books. I eagerly await the release of “The Cowgirl’s CEO” this month.
