Who did Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Kevin Harvick pick as the favorite to win the 2010 Sprint Cup. You might be surprised (but not too much).
“I don’t think you can ever count (Jimmie Johnson) out. Until they show weakness how can you count them out? What I mean by that is we’ve seen them through the last four years show weaknesses at times during the season but they always seem to rebound when it really counts and it comes down to that Chase, they step it up in a way you can’t compete with it. Until they don’t do that, you’ve got to keep them as the favorite. As far as who has momentum, who seems to be the strongest in my opinion right now, I would definitely say (Kevin Harvick). Especially that win last week (Michigan). Restrictor plate wins are one thing but to go and win at Michigan, one of those big fast tracks, one of those of tracks you definitely have to be competitive in during the Chase, plus the bonus points they have now and the fact that they have been consistent, I think that Childress has really stepped it up, especially with Kevin and that 29 team. Last weekend, they kind of solidified themselves as the favorite in my opinion.”
- Jeff Gordon
“I do think that those guys (Kevin Harvick) should be considered the favorite. The 29 is doing a great job. We’re definitely working hard to catch those guys.”
- Jimmie Johnson
“I still think that (Jimmie Johnson) is the team to beat. No matter how good that somebody runs, I still think that those guys are the ones to beat just for the fact that they’ve won it for four years. We feel like we can contend for a championship but contending and winning are two different things. We’ve shown we can win races and we’ve shown that we can run good, I still think that until somebody completes the deal and knocks them off, I think they have to be the ones you have to beat because they’ve done it four times.”
