You’re Gonna Put WHAT On The Walls, You Fathead!?!!by Mike Irwin ~ May 7th, 2007. Filed under: Product Reviews. |
Stock car racing fans are a dedicated bunch as a general rule. They sometimes even take their dedication to extreme limits.
Fathead.com is just for extreme fans like that.
Thanks to the kind folks there at www.FatHead.com, I received a heavy 5 foot tall tube to my front door late last week.
Inside was 6 VERY LARGE pieces of vinyl, a roller (not unlike a wallpaper roller, about 5″ wide), and some instructions on how to install the Fathead vinyl graphics on any smooth painted wall.
They sent me a 2006 Dale Jarrett #88(2 pieces of vinyl), a 2006 Bobby Labonte #43 (2 pieces), and a 2007 Kasey Kahne #9 (2 pieces).
These things measure 42 inches tall by 92 inches wide, and are HUGE. Kasey’s is a little bit shorter at 37 inches and a little wider at 94 inches. That’s why they have to be sent in two pieces each.
“Hey, honey, c’mere and lookee what I got,” I yelled at my wife.
“Huh… what are those?”, she asked.
“They’re Fathead vinyl stickers. They sent them to me to review, and they can go on any wall,”, I replied.
“That’s not correct”, she said.
“WHAT’S not correct?”, I asked.
“The part about them going on any wall, because I read minds, and they are NOT going in MY living room!”
See, I have cathedral ceilings in my living room, and I had entertained ideas of Dale Jarrett’s #88 racing across the top of one wall, and Bobby Labonte’s #43 racing across the other, all in full techicolor vinyl.
But as Jeff Foxworthy is known to say, “If momma ain’t happy, you ain’t happy,” and I didn’t want to risk finding out what would happen if Momma ain’t happy long enough (me unhappy with 1/2 my stuff), so….
To keep peace, I removed only one of the separate car numbers and installed it briefly in my garage on some smooth drywall. It went on easily, and was very easy to peel and relocate.
The Fathead banners are created in very VIVID colors, and it does look like the car is right there with you, at least as far as I could tell by laying them out on the carpet.
It takes two people to install them, due to their size, and it will help to keep them from getting torn.
Available drivers include Jarrett, Labonte, Carl Edwards, Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, Richard Petty, and many others.
This kind of graphic would be just the thing to set off that racing den or hobby room, and I think they would be spectacular on a garage wall.
If you like other sports, www.Fathead.com also offers NFL, NBA, MLB, College, Star Wars (I want the 6 foot tall Darth Vader!), and Spiderman 3 graphics, plus more.
For stock car fans, there are vinyl cars, and stand-ups, as well as logos of the sports teams and entertainment figures.
Suggested retail prices range from around $49.00 to $119.00. Right now, www.Fathead.com is donating 10% of sales of certain items to NASCAR Day, too.
So swing on over to www.Fathead.com and check out all the cool products that they offer.
But you might want to check with your spouse first before planning a Junebug living room!
