MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 15, 2009) – What better way to welcome Danica Patrick to NASCAR than with the help of those who serve as its backbone – the fans.
A group of randomly selected JR Nation Crew fan club members will be on hand at JR Motorsports this Thursday when Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt, Kelly Bires and Patrick host a media event that will further introduce the new JR Motorsports line-up for 2010. It was announced last week that Patrick will drive a partial NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule in the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. Bires was tabbed earlier this year to take over the No. 88 Hellmann’s Chevrolet.
All official members of the JR Nation Crew were notified Monday via email about the invitation and given 24 hours to register for the drawing. From those registrations, 10 names were drawn and contacted to confirm attendance. The fans will be encouraged to participate in the press conference, as they will have the opportunity to ask questions to the featured panel. The panel will include Earnhardt Jr., Patrick, Bires, Kelley Earnhardt, Tony Eury Sr., and Tony Eury Jr.
“Obviously with Dale Jr.’s popularity, JR Motorsports has a strong and loyal connection to the immense NASCAR fan base, so to be able to bring in a group of fans to represent the voice of the NASCAR public was only fitting,” said Camille Thompson, JR Motorsports marketing manager. “It’s a way for us to say thanks to members of the JR Nation Crew and also showcase our company’s values and interests in this special event.”
NASCAR fans have yet another way to participate in Thursday’s event, as they are encouraged to visit Earnhardt Jr.’s official Facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/dalejr) and submit questions. One question will be chosen and asked to the requested panel member during the press conference, with recognition given to the submitter’s name and hometown.
