Track Trash – California Surfing

Boring but exciting at the end. Gimmie wins again and looking like he has a chance at that 4th Championship but it’s not over till it’s over. Jr might as well shoot himself in the foot with his bad luck of late. Jeffy comes in 2nd again. I thought Smoke had gone up in smoke but he put the fire out and came in okay. Vile Kyle was so sick he crawled out of his 18 shaking. Over all it’s on to the next race.

“TOGETHER” Hendrick Motorsports: What can be said about 25 years for this car owner? He has had some of the top drivers in his stable. They say it’s a family affair. Whatever it is, it works for him. Hendrick has had some great drivers driving for him. Hendrick has some of the best active drivers driving for him right now. Jeff Gordon with 82 wins, 4 Championships in 17 years; Jimmie Johnson with 45 wins (after today’s win), 3 Championships (maybe a 4th) in 9 years; Mark Martin with 7 wins in less than 1 year. So far in the 2 years that June Bug has been with Hendrick he hasn’t done much with 1 win (in the rain but it was a win).

RACE DAY COMMENTS: Who cares about the opinion of Rusty Wallace and a retired basketball player when they have nothing really good to say about some of the top drivers?

JOEY LOGANO: Daddy didn’t help his son when he went and confronted Greg Biffle. Daddy got his credentials taken by NASCAR after his confrontation with Biffle. That wasn’t real smart on his part.

DAVID REUTIMANN: Michael Waltrip should have made a trip to Napa Auto Parts. Come on NASCAR… it was just a pressure gauge.

Now for California Surfing

Ham started on the pole but it didn’t take Gimmie long to hunt him down and take the lead on lap 10. The Biffe was running good but started falling back by lap 22. I wonder if he gets close to Logano he’ll put him into the wall again.

Toya takes the lead from Gimmie. Both the 42 and 48 are looking good early in the stages. Can one of them end up winning or will they wreck each other for the win? Only time will tell. But I always worry about any driver who gets close to Toya. He loves to spin those cars.

What can I say about Vile Kyle? … sick… and will have to climb out of his M & M car when the first caution comes out. He’s hoping it won’t be long. It takes longer than he thought it would. But he’s being tough and sticking it out.

Caution free and drivers had to do green pit stop. Gimmie takes over 1st place with Toya behind him in 2nd. By lap 45 Toya had moved past Gimmie to that the lead. I don’t think Gimmie liked it much.

Robby Gordon needs to stop his pipe from smoking…. NO, wait they aren’t smoking, but hanging out and he had to go back onto pit road for a quick fix.

Jeffy takes 4th spot away from Ham and he’s on the move. Can this driver keep it up or will he end up in the back of the field? Only time will tell but Jeffy and the Pepsi car are looking fast and sharp.

Caution #1: Sick Vile Kyle must be happy that a caution finally came out…Now his replacement can take over if Kyle can get out on his own. This guy was really sick today. Gimmie’s crew messes up on his pit stop and he lost several spots when they go green again.

On the restart, Harvick takes the lead but Toya doesn’t let him lead one lap. It looks like it might be Toya’s day But it wasn’t mean to be. Hendrick teammates in the top 5 with Jr on the move. Jr is looking good today after starting 37th. California sun comes out. Smoke not happy when he got caught speeding on pit road and had to make a run through. Lap 80 has Jr breaking the top 10.

There were a total of 8 cautions, with the last one being a Red Flag. There went the good run for the 88, 9, 19, 47, 44, 31 & the 43. I don’t know about you but I’d sure like for NASCAR to show us everything they claim is on the track to call a caution. At times there is nothing there. The race was exciting at the end but it was a pretty boring race. But California always is. Good old Gimmie ended up winning. Does he have the Championship sewed up? NOPE. It’s not over until it’s over.

Okay I’m not sure that I did Mike any favors doing TRACK TRASH since I’ve never done one before. I did my best and hope it wasn’t too bad.

Carolyn-You ask who cares about Rusty Wallace’s opinion? My question is this: who in the world could possibly care about yours? You are a nobody who needs to get a life.

Oh let me see…Why I do believe that I was picked 2008 Race Fan of the YeaR…so I guess my opinion must amount to something…plus being written up in a book that is coming out. It’s nice that I don’t have a life because I’m having a ball living in it.

Hey Bill Jackson – You read her article and cared enough to post a comment. Looks like you just answered your own question.
