Happy (belated, due to our webmaster’s absence) Labor Day to you. Sure hope you had lots of presents under yer oak tree.
(I know, it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, but hey, neither does the outcome of some of the NA$CAR races.) |
Bradski: So Bradski is officially jumping to Penske next year. Which leads me to recall some choice words by the Rickster on Aug 22nd: “But wherever he goes, he’ll always be close enough for me to get him and bring him back”. Gee, I wonder what Sir Roger Penske’s response to that might be….
Flipster: Oooouch. A broken foot. Playing Frisbee no less. Well, it could happen to anyone, and doing anything. But you can’t convince me that he’s gonna be pain free while driving several races this weekend, plus the rest of the ’09 schedule. Hey, this means that if he wins, no more back flips. And imagine if he starts to get into a wreck, and mindlessly jams on the brake pedal with his bum right hoof. Double oooouch.
Blobonte: First he gets dumped by HoF Racing (presumably because lack of sponsor funding to pay his $alary), now he replaces Gilliland in the underfunded TRG machine. I give up. Isn’t the TRG car one of those ‘start and park’ units?? This certainly looks like Blobonte is making a downward spiral, cuz it doesn’t appear he can go much lower than this (aside from jumping to the Busch league). Gee, maybe he’s got halitosis, and no one’s got enough nerve to tell him……
Da Race: Sam Hornish brought out the first yellow with a spin in the infield. He must’ve liked that thrilling ride, cuz he decided to do it again about 25 laps later. Lots of lead changes during the race, and much like other races starting at dusk, setups needed to be tweaked in order to stay up front. A prime example of this was Trueaxle, who started on the pole, lead a bunch of laps, then by the half way mark he went a lap down. Other cars, like that of MattyBoy and da Biff, started off looking like junk, and eventually gained respectability. The Bobsy Twins (Gordo and JJ) had unremarkable outings. JJ tried to pop a wheelie getting out of his pit, and broke his LR axle. This put him 22 laps down at the end, and a lot of egg on his face.
Kase: It’s rather remarkable that Petty could produce a car that could win. His teammates ended up in 20th and 27th, so it was more of a fluke in my book. You’d think that the 43 car would be the top car in that outfit, but noooo, far from it. I’mSore..enson just might get the boot if he doesn’t run up front in the near future. The King wants his number in the winner’s circle…….
Happy: All is cool between Happy and Dickie Childress. Nothing heals wounds better than leading a bunch of laps, and vying for the big W. At times his car was a rocket, and blasted past cars in the lead pack. However, the other RCR cars were pretty much sucking copious amounts of exhaust fumes all night. So RCR appears to have paid more attention to Happy’s car than the others…….
Pablo: A great night for the Columbian. He ran steady-eddy all night, and even led a number of laps. He seems really focused on making the Big Show, so it’ll take a wreck or a mechanical failure next weekend to keep him out of the Playoffs.
Kudos: To Rootman for another stellar Top 5. To RoboGordo for a solid race (too bad he slipped a few notches at the end). To Maynerd and Blobonte for surprisingly good outings.
