Track Trash – Undie

Well, Pablo almost became a hero today…….almost. It’s funny what adrenaline (and a lead foot) can do to you.

Jerry’s METH od: More fodder keeps surfacing. He wants to drive. He wants to race his car. Then the court says ‘that’s a big no can do’. He wants to (again) prove that he’s clean, this time by growing his hair long enough to get a sample taken. Then he sells his team. He’s in never-never land now, and has little hope of resurrecting his career. The Subway shop looks better all the time……..

RCR: OK, what the heck is wrong with this outfit? They are a shadow of their once solid team, and are blending in with the other wannabe’s. I suspect they lost a lot of their edge when the ‘no testing’ rule went into effect. Then they hired CaseOfMears. And it’s so bad that Happy wants to bail out. The bottom line is that like many NFL teams in the past, it’s really, really hard to maintain a dominant position from year to year. Heck, the same thing could happen at Hendrick, Roush, or Gibbs.

JamieMac: Poor Jamie. As predicted, he’s gonna be set free….or traded down to the Yates quagmire. This was a no brainer that we called last year, so it shouldn’t be any surprise. Ragan was a candidate for moving off the 5th team, however, he’s got UPS in tow, and they want to stay in the big leagues. Thus Jamie is the odd man out, and unless he gets a quality ride elsewhere, his future at Yates could put a big hurt on him.

Gordo: Oh, my (still) aching back. Sounds like Gordo’s gonna drive with the pain, instead of doing invasive surgery. Since there really isn’t much of an off-season, surgery might take too long to heal, so that might not be an option unless the pain gets real bad. Gordo, a word to the wise: don’t start messing with “chemicals” like Jerry did.

Gordo 2: Has anyone noticed that although there is a lot of heat on Jr. to improve, our bud Gordo has not performed up to his VonderBoy status? Theoretically, he’s supposed to be one of the keystones of NA$CAR, yet he has not produced the string of W’s one would have imagined. So right now, this very moment, if you disregard his Top 12 status, he is #3 in the Hendrick stable of four and is allowing TOG (The Old Geezer) to upstage him.

Pre Race: Did you catch the KidKyle interview? The reporter asked some tough, intelligent questions……perhaps the best in-depth, no holds barred piece of reporting I have ever seen. I’m surprised that da Kid didn’t sputter with some of his answers, which would lead me to believe that he was given the list of questions before the interview. Nonetheless, I applaud ESPN for making it happen.

Da Race: With a little more than 1/3rd of the race completed, two of the three Gibbs machines were in the garage. And if you count the #20 car’s engine change before the race, all of them had some sort of calamity. Hambone had a gear box problem, and da Kid blew his RF and did a wall job. But in spite of starting last, Joey redeemed himself with a 12th place finish.

Pablo: What a blowout this could have been. With the clean air in his face, he dominated most of the race. And then it happened. Although later swearing on his wife and children that he was under the limit, NA$CAR zinged him with speeding on pit road…during the last pit stop. They claim he was nailed in two speed trap segments, so they must have felt they were on firm ground. Normally when someone leads most (in not all) of the race, there’s a “ho-hum” attitude about the race. But I have the feeling that the fans were 100% in back of Pablo, and wanted him to win this one. I could be wrong, but with his open wheel background at this venue, he woulda made a great Winner.

Kudos: To das Knaus for doing his ‘thang’, and for JJ holding TOG at bay. To TOG for believing he had a chance. To Da Biff for finally doing a Top 5 at this track. To VickersVapoRub for continuing his quest in spite of not having a signed contract for 2010. To Happy for overcoming the RCR bad karma.

Heaps of 3’s all over yer local Lowe’s store,
