BurnOut Bash At Texas
Texas Motor Speedway has partnered with GameChange Marketing, the producer of RaceWatch, an interactive fan publication available at all NASCAR races, for a free post-race party and concert for all fans in attendance for the Samsung 500 on Sunday, April 15. The RaceWatch BurnOut Bash will take place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Village of Champions directly outside of Turn 1 at TMS. This one-of-a-kind event is designed to maintain the excitement of race day while providing fans with a unique place to visit as traffic lessens.

‘Dega Tickets On Sale
Fans who have not renewed seats from last fall will have their first chance to purchase prime spots on Saturday, March 10, for the UAW-Ford 500 weekend. As an added incentive, those who purchase tickets by May 28, 2007, in addition to those who have renewed seats by the February deadline, will receive a voucher to experience a racer’s view of Talladega Superspeedway. A track ride voucher will allow each qualified account holder to drive his or her own vehicle around the freshly-paved, 2.66-mile tri-oval. Fans who take advantage of this offer will have a choice of three dates to redeem their track ride voucher; June 30, July 28 or Aug. 25. Each voucher is good for a two-lap ride in one vehicle and as many passengers as there are seatbelts.

Checkers Wins Bill Veeck Sports Sponsorship Award
Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc., the nation’s largest chain of double drive-thru restaurants and parent company of both Checkers® and Rally’s® concepts, has been recognized as the 2006 Bill Veeck Sports Sponsorship Award winner for the Professional Association category. The chain received the award for its Official Burger and Drive-Thru Restaurant sponsorship of NASCAR® and several International Speedway Corporation (ISC) race tracks.

Evernham Loses Second Appeal
Evernham Motorsports lost its second appeal in as many days Tuesday as the National Stock Car Racing Commission turned down the No. 19 team’s appeal of the 25-point penalty NASCAR handed down for infractions during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 19 team for driver Elliott Sadler was docked 25 owner and driver points, fined $25,000, and team director Josh Browne was suspended two races for unapproved aerodynamic modifications to the spoiler fasteners that allowed air to flow through the trunk area. The infraction was discovered during pre-Daytona 500 qualifying inspection. Evernham officials only appealed the severity of the severity of the point penalty. They argued that the infraction happened before the car went on the track, that center-drilled bolts had been allowed on other areas of the car, that comparable holes could be found elsewhere on rear valences and the magnitude of the penalties ranked among the largest for comparable prequalifying violations.

Kentucky Lt. Governor Supports NASCAR
Kentucky Lt. Gov. Steve Pence stopped by the 1.5-mile track Wednesday as part of an effort to drum up support for the track’s campaign to land a Nextel Cup race date. “Let NASCAR know that the state cares about this,” Pence said in a statement from the track. “That’s one of the reasons I’m here, to let the people on Ryan Newman’s team know that the state does care about this and they want to see a Nextel Cup race here. I like to hear and talk to guys like Ryan Newman because they believe a Nextel Cup race would work here.

Chevy to scrap Monte Carlo…again? Inside Line has confirmed with supplier sources that production of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo will cease at the end of the 2007 model year. That means the last Monte Carlo will roll off the line sometime this summer. In recent years, the Monte Carlo has been one of General Motors’ biggest successes on the NASCAR stock-car racing circuit. But the two-door companion to the Chevrolet Impala sedan has not resonated with the buying public.(Edmunds.com), it was announced in October 2006 that Chevy would be going to the Impala for Car of Tomorrow [COT] races.(3-8-2007)

Hooters Casino to honor Kulwicki during NASCAR weekend: Hooters Casino Hotel [115 E. Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas] invites race fans to pay homage to late NASCAR driver, Alan Kulwicki, by visiting his legendary car [#7 Hooters Ford] displayed inside the casino hotel, March 8-10 from 4 to 10 p.m. During that time, fans will have the opportunity to take photos with Michelle Nunes, Miss Hooters International, and Alise Dippolito, Miss March 2007 from the Hooters calendar in front of the “Underbird.” Underbird – the first Hooters-sponsored race car driven by Kulwicki – is prominently displayed on the casino floor complete with an interactive kiosk, which tells the story of the relationship between Hooters of America and NASCAR, and more importantly the special bond between Kulwicki and Hooters. In 1991, Hooters signed the Kulwicki Racing Team to a three-year contract, and at the same time began sponsoring the Winston Cup season-ending race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which became the Hooters 500. In the season-ending race of the 1992 season, Kulwicki won the Hooters 500. Following the win, Hooters enjoyed one of the highest levels of awareness it had known at that point. Hooters’ relationship with NASCAR ultimately brought the Hooters Restaurant chain from a virtual unknown to worldwide recognition in one weekend. Following the untimely passing of Kulwicki in 1993, Hooters has continued to pay tribute to the legendary driver with gestures ranging from donations to the Alan Kulwicki Memorial Park for the construction of the Brooks Pavilion, to the Underbird memorial at Hooters Casino Hotel.(Lighthouse Marketing PR), more about Kulwicki’s #7 Hooters Ford ‘Underbird’ at underbird.com.(3-8-2007)

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Primer: Atlanta
03-07-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
With Manufacturers’ championship runnerup Ford winless at Atlanta Motor Speedway, odds favor Toyota retaining or increasing its current lead in the standings. Ford got close a year ago when Todd Bodine edged Mark Martin’s F-150 truck to halt the latter’s two-race winning streak. Actually, Chevrolet is the favorite at AMS, having won three of the past four races.
