During Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville SuperSpeedway, Joe Nemechek took a wild tumble through the frontstrech grass, turning over and landing back on the track, ending his day in a brand new car with only seven laps remaining in the race. The #87 car, driven by Nemechek, was listed as owner Andrea Nemechek with Crew Chief Phillippe Lopez, and Nationwide Insurance ‘Dash For Cash’ as sponsor.

While fans were watching Joey Logano and Kyle Busch battle it out for the lead in the closing laps, Michael Annett and Brendan Gaughan got together off Turn 4 clipping Nemechek’s rear quarter panel, sending him into the grass where, apparently his tires dug into the dirt enough to turn it over.
“That’s the first time I’ve been up like that in a long time,” Nemechek said. “That thing just popped over quick. I couldn’t believe it snapped over. Just terrible. Brand-new race car, and it’s killed. Oh, well.”
In an interview after the wreck, Joe was asked what happened, he replied, “I think there’s some rookies who need more experience before they get out there”. But Nemechek never named any names as to who he blamed for the incident.
Nemechek finished 34th after starting the race in the 26th position. Even with the big crash ending his day early, Joe managed to gain two spots in the Nationwide Series points race, he’s now 18th in the standings.
