The late Benny Parsons added a lot of color to the NBC and TNT broadcasts last year. It’s sad that this great race driver who moved into TV for an extension of his racing career lost a difficult battle with cancer last week. It was lung cancer and ironically he hadn’t smoked for many years, according to the reports. There’s really not much more to say other than RIP Benny.
TV camera technology is changing every day especially in the sporting arena like motor racing. We got a look at Cruise Cam International’s latest products. It’s designed for in-car camera videos at high speed motor racing. Currently one system is installed in the Team Highlander’s Corvette race car which ran at last year’s Mid-Ohio Racecourse. The system is mounted in the headrest on the right hand side of the driver. The law enforcement system is a three way view package, two cameras in out of the front windshield and one in the rear window. That system fits into all of the current and most popular police/law enforcement vehicles. And it might also be adapted to a motorsports application. The pricing seems to be reasonable, too. The stock symbol is CCMJ.PK and the full name of the company is Cruise Cam, LLC, 23070 Commerce Drive, Farmington Hills, MI 48335. You can reach them at 248-471-9520 Fax 248-471-9521. Their website is www.cruisecam.com and their e-mail is info@cruisecam.com on the internet.
This one came from the Valvoline Track Talk Newsletter:
Yes, He REALLY Said That
Dale Earnhardt Jr.- on his relationship (and contract negotiations) with stepmother Teresa. “The relationship that we have today is the same relationship we had when I was six years old when I moved into that house with Dad and her. It’s always been the same. It hasn’t gotten worse over the last couple years or last couple months. It’s always been the same, the way I felt about her then is the way I feel about her now.”
On a related report from www.stockcargazette.com Richard Childress owner of the RCR Nextel Cup team was quoted as saying that if Junior wants to drive one of his cars, like the #3 driven by his late father, he knows who to call. So this family feud between Dale, Jr. and his step-mom Theresa has taken another step up the ladder. No pun intended.
