Track Trash – Picdanose

What an outstanding race (if you just watched the last 30 laps). The only thing lacking was a Green/White/Checkered finish, which woulda put half the pack out of the race due to lack of petrol. Read the rest at http://motorsportsnews.net/archives/1484

Edwards Wins At Pocono
Carl Edwards won his fourth Sprint Cup race of the 2008 season and earned his second victory in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. It was the eleventh trip to the winner’s circle in 142 career tries for Edwards, who held off Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson for second and third respectively. Edwards made up for the position in the point standings lost last week when he finished second to winner Jimmie Johnson, and still dropped one spot. The race was stopped once for rain and more bad weather was threatening but NASCAR managed to get the entire event in the books. Edwards came in the pits just before the race was red flagged and he and his crew chief, Bob Osborne were in a heated argument as to who called for him to pit. Had the race been called at that point, Edwards would have been buried in the middle of the field somewhere, but as fate would have it, the race was resumed after about 40 minutes and he drove a very fast race car to victory. “I thought we made the wrong call,” Edwards said. “I was feeling really nervous.”

Kevin Harvick somehow managed to bring his Chevrolet home in the fourth spot and that was after spinning out on the first lap in an altercation with Joe Nemechek. David Ragan finished fifth and Clint Bowyer was sixth. Kasey Kahne led some laps but was caught up in alternative pitting strategy, could only muster a seventh. The same for Mark Martin, he did lead the most laps and still he finished eighth followed by Jamie McMurray and Jeff Gordon to round out the top ten.

Sprint Cup points leader Kyle Busch was running fourth with just two laps to go, ran out of fuel and had a difficult time getting the car re-fired. That relegated him to a 35th place finish. Busch lost a lot of points to second place Dale Earnhardt Jr. and now leads him by only 176. Still a comfortable margin considering there are only five race remaining on the schedule before the Chase for the Championship begins. The Sprint Cup Series moves to Watkins Glen International next Sunday August 10th, 2008, for the Centurion Boats At The Glen. The race is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM / Eastern Time on ESPN. The race will also be broadcast live on SIRIUS Satellite Radio Channel 128.

Michael McDowell (24th) was the highest finishing rookie.
Kyle Busch leads the point standings by 176 points over Dale Earnhardt Jr.(NASCAR Statistics)(8-3-2008)

Verizon/Alltel hopes to continue sponsorship: Scott Ford’s speaking appearance at a July 22 gathering of the Rotary Club of Little Rock produced a couple of anecdotes related to the planned $28.1 billion sale to Verizon Corp. The CEO of Little Rock’s Alltel Corp. said Verizon was interested in continuing the sponsorship of Ryan Newman’s #12 Dodge Charger on the NASCAR circuit. Ford described the publicity gained from the Alltel car as providing a 6-1 advertising leverage. He said the only better investment, on a cost-per-eyeball basis, was Alltel Arena in North Little Rock. Newman’s #12 car, sporting Alltel’s familiar blue and white colors, won the Daytona 500 back in February.(Arkansas Business), for Verizon to keep the sponsorship, they would have to keep the Alltel brand. AT&T was allowed to switch from Cingular on the #31 car for about 18 months after Cingular and Alltel were grandfathered in after Nextel/Sprint became the Cup Series sponsor in 2004.(8-4-2008)

Haas “In Good Standing” With NASCAR: Often lost in the circumstances involving the formation of Stewart Haas Racing is the fact that one of those two namesakes currently resides in federal prison. But unlike Michael Vick–who may face further discipline from the NFL following his release–Gene Haas will be welcomed back into NASCAR with open arms. “He’s in good standing with NASCAR, that’s all they told us, and that’s all we need to know,” team General Manager Joe Custer told the Press Sunday morning. Haas reported to prison in January to serve a two-year term after pleading guilty to one count of tax fraud. That followed a plea bargain resulting in the dismissal of several charges, which included reporting false race team expenses. “They were dropped,” Custer said of charges related to the race team. “That’s the point. It they’re dropped, they’re not an issue.” Stewart was unable for comment, as his spokesperson, Mike Arning, cited the driver’s interest in focusing on his current team, Joe Gibbs Racing.(see full story at Long Island Press)(8-4-2008) http://snipurl.com/3agkk-gazete

More driver plans for the #45: Kyle Petty said that his not racing the last two weeks is different than his situation earlier this season at Texas Motor Speedway when he was pulled from the Petty Enterprises #45 car. With the team currently 273 points [now 242 after McCumbee's 17th at Pocono] outside of the top 35, Petty said it only makes sense to use the rest of the season to evaluate drivers. Petty, speaking following a taping of “Tradin’ Paint” at Pocono Raceway, was originally scheduled to drive at Indianapolis last week and then Pocono. He had missed the previous seven races because of his daughter’s wedding and then to do commentary during TNT telecasts. Petty said no one should read into this as new majority owner Boston Ventures trying to push him out. “We’re so far back in points, it really is going to give us an opportunity to evaluate a lot of things,” Petty said. “[Texas] was a different deal. We’re all on the same page on this and everything is going according [to the plan]. … I was mad at Texas, and you know I’m not going to hide it if I’m mad about it. We don’t have a shot of getting back in the top 35, and so when you get to that position, then you can try a lot of different stuff.”
He said he will race at Watkins Glen next week before Terry Labonte, who drove during most of his absence, returns at Michigan. Petty likely will run the seven races from Bristol through Talladega. Chad McCumbee, who qualified the #45 for the Pocono race, will run at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in October and likely will drive in the majority of the final five races after that, Petty said. And what about next year? Petty said he is still doing his six races in the broadcast booth for TNT. He said he was open to running a limited schedule, ranging from 10 to 30 races. Marathon and Wells Fargo should return as sponsors, Petty said. Petty said he is agreeable to running a third part-time car for the team if it wants to have two other full-time drivers. If there is a third team, Petty said he would still drive the #45. He drives the #45 as a tribute to his son, Adam, who was killed in a crash during Busch Series practice in 2000 at New Hampshire.(SceneDaily)(8-4-2008)

Richard Childress is still looking for the right driver to add to his Cup team. He said earlier this year that Richard Childress Racing plans to add a fourth Cup driver for next season, joining Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer. But the search has dragged on longer than Childress expected. “You’ve got to find the right person,” Childress said Sunday. “You don’t want to mess up the other three (teams). But we’re still working on it and I think we’ll get it done in the next couple of weeks.” Two of the leading candidates for the RCR ride appear to be Casey Mears, who will leave Hendrick Motorsports at the end of the season, and Martin Truex Jr., whose future at Dale Earnhardt Inc. remains up in the air.(AP/ESPN.com)(8-4-2008)

Did Not Finish Streak and stats: #29-Harvick has been running at the finish in 65 consecutive races, the longest current streak and a NEW modern era record, next up is #07-Bowyer at 58 consecutive races. The all-time record for the longest streak of NOT having an DNF is 84 races held by Herman Beam from April 30, 1961 thru March 10, 1963. Kevin Harvick held the modern era (1972-present) record at 58 (10/3/2002-8/1/2004) unil he broke it himself in 2008. Next up is Jeff Gordon at 56 and Dale Earnhardt at 53 [Indy in 1996 thru Martinsville in the spring of 1998.(8-3-2008)

Top-5's, Top-10's: #18-Kyle Busch leads all drivers after 21 races in 2008 with 12 Top-5 finishes followed by #99-Edwards at 9. #99-Edwards has the most Top-10's after 21 races with 15, followed by #18-Busch with 13. Full-time drivers who have run all 21 races in 2008 with no top-10 finishes are #77-Hornish Jr. and #15-Menard. Seven drivers have not scored a Top-5 and ran all 21 races: #7-Gordon [last top-5 at Watkins Glen 8/2007], #15-Menard [none so far], #26-McMurray [last at Daytona, a win 7/07], #28-Kvapil [none], #43-Labonte [last at Martinsville in 10/2006], #44-Reutimann [none] and #77-Hornish Jr.[none].(8-3-2008)

Car Number Wins: Twenty car numbers have never won a points paying event in a Cup race: 35,36,39,50,57,61,63,65,67,68,69,70,74,76,79,82,84,93,94,95. On Sunday at Pocono, Carl Edwards won in the #99, for the 36th win for a car running the #99. See my Winners by Number/First Win/Last Win page for the rundown.(8-3-2008) http://www.jayski.com/stats/winbynum.htm

NASCAR CUP RACING AND POETRY? HUH?!

Hometown Girl’s NEW NASCAR Book and CD Single Getting Rave Reviews!

NASCAR Nextel Cup Racing…and poetry. Okay, there’s a combination you don’t hear of often. And at first glance it might seem about as welcome as mustard on a doughnut, but Maria (Frisk) Bennett has a way of re-capping a weekly NASCAR event in prose that makes the readers feel like they are at the race track themselves. Maria has long been a Jeff Gordon fan and has taken her love of motor sports and writing to a new form of expression for race fans. What first drew me to Maria’s writing was her absolute demand for accuracy. Each week she takes us back to a week in review in Nextel Cup competition and does it all with a lyrical and humorous style that, well… almost makes us race fans forget we’re reading poetry! Every race is looked at with an eye to accuracy in terms of events and outcome, and even though she writes from the perspective of a Jeff Gordon fan, anyone can gain insightful knowledge of the preceding week’s race by reading her words. Her style is unique and unlike anything that I have come by in the past…- From the foreword, written by Dan Hughes, Host of QVC’s For Race Fan’s Only show

Maria (Frisk) Bennett is one of our own. Maria grew up in Watkins Glen, NY, and even speaks fondly of it in her new book, Lyrical Laps and Laughs, 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Race Re-caps From A Jeff Gordon Fan’s Perspective. Maria’s husband, Marty is from the Elmira area, and many of Marty and Maria’s family and friends still reside here in the area.

Maria Bennett is a wife, home school mom, singer, songwriter, recording artist, author and speaker, residing in Florida with her husband, and son.

Maria will be in the area for some book and CD signings the week of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race on August 10th. Maria will be opening the Race Fever event in Corning, NY on Thursday evening, August 7th, with our National Anthem, and you will have the opportunity to purchase her new book and CD at the event, as well as get them signed by Maria. She will be doing another signing on Saturday, August 9th at Storylines bookstore in Watkins Glen, from Noon-2:00 PM and also from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.

The CD single, “Overwhelmed” is a song that Maria wrote and recorded for NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon and his wife Ingrid in honor of their first-born daughter, Ella. However, parents and children all over the country are being touched and blessed by this special keepsake song!

To read more great reviews on Lyrical Laps and Laughs, please visit www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble. You may also find more information at: www.TheOriginalRoute66.com

Maria is personally donating part of the proceeds from the sale of both the book and CD to the Jeff Gordon Foundation.

If you are a collector of NASCAR memorabilia, this unique book and CD is a must for you! If you are a NASCAR fan and/or a Jeff Gordon fan, get your copy of the book and CD as soon as you can, as they are both one-of-a-kind items unlike anything out there, which you will enjoy for a lifetime!

Maria hopes that you will mark your calendars and stop by one of the above-mentioned events so that she may see you again, or meet you for the first time!

Ron Fellows Wins Rainy Montreal Race: #5-Ron Fellows, driving for JR Motorsports, won the rain-shortened NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. It was his 4th career Nationwide Series win. The race was called after 48 laps when the rain picked up, water began to stand on the track, and it started getting darker. #9-Patrick Carpentier finsished second, followed by #59-Marcos Ambrose, who led 29 laps and dominated much of the race before being caught too fast on pit road. The rest of the top 10: #33-Ron Hornaday, #25-Boris Said, #60-Carl Edwards, #38-Jason Leffler, #16-Greg Biffle, #2-Clint Bowyer, and #66-Steve Wallace. The race started before the rains hit, but the caution was called on lap 7 when showers started. NASCAR red flagged the race on lap 8 allowed teams to change to rain tires and hook up blowers and windshield wipers. The race was the first time NASCAR had ever run rain tires during an official event. The race was delayed approximately an hour while changes were made and NASCAR waited for the rains to let up some. The race had 4 cautions for 13 laps. There were 4 leaders with 3 lead changes.

Wallace Says Iowa hasn’t been guaranteed Nationwide race: Now that Mexico City will not be on the Nationwide Series schedule in 2009, speculation is rampant about a replacement. And the one track that comes up constantly is Iowa Speedway. But Rusty Wallace, who helped design the 0.875-mile track in Newton, Iowa, said NASCAR has not promised a date for next season. “We have always asked NASCAR for a Nationwide race or a truck race, and there’s never been room in the schedule,” Wallace said at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, site of Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts 200. “Now, there’s room in the schedule. NASCAR has not called me up and said, ‘Hey, we’re going to go to Iowa.’ They have said they really like our track. They like what it looks like. “At this point, I’m not going to speculate. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I hope we get it. But they have never come up to me and said, ‘You’re getting it. Here’s the date.’ We’re absolutely 100 percent at their mercy.” (SceneDaily.com)(8-2-2008)

Post-race quotes from race winner Ron Fellows, and winning crew chief Cam Strader- Strader;” I was surprised when Chad Walter (former #5 crew chief)resigned. Chad has done so many great things to help me learn the things I needed to do. I’ve got to give Chad a lot of credit for where we were today. We stuck with the pre race plan, knowing if it did rain, we’d have better fuel mileage. Working with Ron this week has given me a good platform to help us next week.” Fellows:” Yeah…all you need to do is change your driver lineup (laughs).” Strader: “Yeah, I told Dale Jr. that maybe he’s out and Ron is in for next week (smiles).” Fellows: “Obviously to win here at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is huge for me because Gilles was a hero of mine. I watched him in 1980 or 81, in pouring rain. To win, and in the rain, is special for me. After the first pit stop, we were the fastest car of the day. And the connection with the Earnhardt’s is so special, it goes back to the Corvettes in 01’ “The conditions were treacherous with the flooding, and visibility was a big, big problem….especially anything over 70 mph with the spray. “ Strader:” you would have seen us come pit in about 8 laps.” Fellows:” I think there was a lot more fuel left because of the rain, we weren’t even going anywhere close to full throttle on the straightaway.”(thehotlap-media center-circuit gilles villeneuve) (08-03-08)

Post-race quotes from second-place finisher Patrick Carpentier-“It was slow….it was raining so hard at the end. The last pit stop we made a change and the car came alive. I wanted the race to go a little longer because I knew the #5 car had to pit. I wanted one position higher, but, we’ll try again next year. I was surprised because I thought there would be a lot more spins, at the end I was mad they (NASCAR) stopped it, but they had to…I was sideways in 4th gear. I was hoping to see that #5 parked on the side of the track (smiles) but it didn’t happen. And, I want to thank the fans…I can’t believe they all stayed in the grandstands, it was raining so hard.”(the hotlap-Media center-circuit gilles villeneuve-) (08-03-08)

MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 59 STP Ford Fusion – (finished 3rd, qualified 3rd) – PRESS CONFERENCE – TALK ABOUT YOUR RACE. “I’m bitterly disappointed. I feel like we really dominated today’s race. I made an error down pit lane, I just couldn’t see the pit exit and we sped. I went down and had a look at it and it’s still hard to see. I’m just really disappointed, I feel like the race was ours today and I tripped over myself. I’m real sorry for my team and STP and JTG Daugherty Racing for, I let them down, I guess. It’s a shame.”WHAT TURNED THE RACE AROUND? “We had a great day going. I just sped down pit lane. Actually, I took off too early. I couldn’t see the end of pit lane. I just couldn’t see it. The line on the race track, I couldn’t see it. I couldn’t see the cone. I waited until I got passed Pruett and counted to three and took off and I must have just jumped the line but 20 or 30 feet. I’m bitterly disappointed that I let everybody down with that. I feel robbed about it, to be honest with you. I feel like we just dominated today. We controlled the race from the front. It’s just a real shame for STP and JTG Daugherty Racing. We’ve got great things on the horizon, but I just feel a little jinxed. I feel like I need to win a race. I’ve come here twice, dominated and came up short both times. So, I’m gonna have to have a few beers or something to reconcile myself tonight and hopefully, I’ll wake up tomorrow with a hangover and feel a little better. Right now, I feel very disappointed and hopefully, that goes away.”DID YOU LEARN SOMETHING THAT WILL BE HELPFUL NEXT WEEKEND AT ANOTHER ROAD COURSE RACE? DO YOU LIKE HAVING THE ROAD COURSE EVENTS BACK-TO-BACK? “I’ve learned that I don’t want to race in the rain in a NASCAR again. It’s really tricky. Maybe if there is inclement weather again down the road, NASCAR won’t be so frightened to put us out there on wets because we got a race in. Everyone was safe and it was a decent show, I guess. The tires held up and the cars held up. I thought for sure we were going to have electrical problems with all the water that was coming in the car but anything that got wet was me.”DO YOU FEEL JINXED UP HERE? “I feel jinxed full stop. I’ve come a long way to be part of NASCAR and I’m two and a half years into this deal and haven’t gotten a victory. I’ve got second, third, fourth, fifth, whatever, but that win has alluded me. I guess if you keep knocking on the door, it will come. I feel comfortable out there, I feel like I belong. I feel like if we keep at it, the win will fall our way, but right now, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. I haven’t had this good a race and not won twice in a row before at a track. It’s usual. This place has been great to me. We’re going to come back next year, I’m sure, and try and break that win. Then we’ll be off. But who knows. I’m disappointed but life goes on. I’ve got two healthy girls back home. I’m looking forward to getting home and seeing those girls tonight and play in the sandbox tomorrow and have a swim and forget about life.” (Ford racing) (08-02-08)

No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet Races to 1st NASCAR Win!
Ron Fellows Drives Go Daddy to Victory Lane

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Watch out! GoDaddy.com now has a NASCAR victory to go with its IndyCar victory already this season. Ron Fellows drove the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet to Victory Lane after winning today’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada.

This was Fellows’ first time behind the wheel of the GoDaddy.com sponsored race car and the first NASCAR win for Go Daddy. Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick made history this year being the first woman to win an IndyCar Series race by winning the Japan 300.

Fellows took over the lead thanks to some strategic pit stop planning. He then led the historic race, this is the first time Nationwide Series has run rain tires, by more than 45 seconds when it was called due to extremely low visibility.

(thanks, Heather)

The Chase for the Cash
08-01-2008 | Steve McDaniel for TruckSeries.com
The Chase for the Cash The first thing you notice at a NASCAR race is the bone-rattling noise. The second thing is the overwhelming corporate presence. Those sponsors’ logos cover just about every square inch of available real estate; around the track, on the cars, and even on the drivers. The series themselves bear the names of major corporate brands. The ads range from global to local in scope, and the money they generate is the lifeblood of a racing team. Chad McCumbee is squarely in the middle of the convergence of the worlds of auto racing and advertising. As the driver of the No. 8 Chevrolet Silverado – which currently is without a sponsor – in the Craftsman Truck Series, the 23-year-old Supply, N.C., native in his third season with the truck series is keenly aware of the necessity of sponsors’ support.

Allgaier Holds off Speed at Pocono; Earns Career-First Superspeedway Victory

LONG POND PA (8-2-08) – From open wheel cars to stock cars, Justin Allgaier had won on short-tracks all across the nation, but never on a superspeedway. That all changed Saturday afternoon at Pocono Raceway where the Springfield, Illinois driver held off Scott Speed in the closing laps of the Pennsylvania 200 to earn his fifth career ARCA RE/MAX Series victory, and first ever on a superspeedway.

Speed, in the Red Bull Toyota, got within a length of Allgaier in the tunnel turn on the final lap, but fell back to three lengths at the final stripe, finishing second.

Speed, who earned the SIM Factory Pole Award the day before, also moved into first place in national championship points.

Speed was also the Aaron’s Lap Leader with the most laps led (35) and earned the SunTrust Highest Finishing Rookie honors.

Chase Miller finished third after starting 29th in the Verizon Wireless-Motorola Dodge, earning the Casite Hard Charger Award.

The race was delayed by one hour for early morning rain showers and then red-flagged on lap 68 of the 80-lap race for a three car wreck on the backstretch involving Dexter Bean, Brian Scott and Frank Kimmel. Scott was able to drive back to his pit for service while Bean and Kimmel, both of whom exited on their own accord, were examined in the infield care center. Bean was released while Kimmel was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Matt Carter finished fourth in the Fort Dodge Animal Health-Stine Seed Ford with Robb Brent trailing in fifth in the Orchard Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Chevrolet.

Speed led at the onset before giving it up for pit road service on lap 18. That handed the lead to Chase Mattioli, who elected to forego the early opportunity to pit. Mattioli led five circuits before DEI’s Aric Almirola assumed control of the top-spot on lap 24. Almirola led four laps before Allgaier passed the Tampa, Florida driver for position on lap 28. Allgaier and Speed then swapped the lead back and forth over the next 23 laps before Almirola reasserted himself as the leader on lap 50. Almirola’s lead was short-lived when Speed charged back to take control on lap 56. Speed led the next 11 laps until Allgaier took the lead for good on lap 67. Allgaier then endured the ensuing red flag and two more cautions, one of which set up a two-lap green flag dash to the checkers with 19 lead-lap cars in tow.

Allgaier also earned the Accel Fastest Lap of the Race and the Klotz Halfway Leader Award. Allgaier’s crew chief Jim Pohlman was credited with the Cometic Gaskets Crew Chief of the Race Award.

Jeremy Clements charged from 26th to sixth in the final finishing order ahead of Ken Butler III, who finished seventh in the Aaron’s Lucky Dog Dream Machine Toyota. Marc Davis was eighth in the WHUR 96.3 Chevrolet. John Wes Townley finished ninth in the Zaxby’s Ford. Gabi DiCarlo raced from the 23rd starting position to finish 10th in the Great Clips Toyota.

In addition to the red flag, seven cautions slowed the race for 36 laps.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., who was the point leader going into Pocono, fell two positions in points after finishing 30th resulting from an accident off turn one just seven laps from the finish. Stenhouse was not injured.

Top-10 ARCA RE/MAX Series Points After the Pennsylvania 200 at Pocono Raceway (8-2-08); 1) Scott Speed 3045; 2) Matt Carter 2950; 3) Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. 2935; 4) Justin Allgaier 2855; 5) Frank Kimmel 2825; 6) John Wes Townley 2635; 7) Tom Hessert III 2530; 8) Tayler Malsam 2510; 9) Patrick Sheltra 2415; 10) Ken Butler III 2405.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series: Nashville Superspeedway

The ARCA RE/MAX Series will follow up their appearance to Pocono Raceway with more superspeedway-style action when the series makes its annual appearance to Nashville Superspeedway for the Toyota ARCA 150 on Saturday, August 9th, 2008. The race is live on SPEED beginning at 4:30 p.m. Eastern/3:30 p.m. Central.

Rookie Robbins Tames Field in 4 Brothers 250
By Paul Warner
Sunday, August 03, 2008 12:30:00 PM

Sixteen-year-old driver joins distinct company

Hickory, N.C.-Not too many people in racing don’t know who Brian Vickers and Joey Logano are these days. In the near future, Trevor Bayne, a DEI development driver, could join them in racing stardom.

But on Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway, Hunter Robbins joined the trio in the Hooters Pro Cup record books by becoming just the fourth driver to win in a race before their 17th birthday.

Robbins, a 16-year-old rookie, swept past Wade Day with 49 laps remaining in the 4 Brothers 250 presented by Galaxy Food Centers and checked out by 3.650 seconds to win his first Hooters Pro Cup event in just his seventh start.

“This car was so awesome tonight,” said Robbins, driver of the No. 6s Goodson Consulting Ford. “I could put it anywhere it needed to be. We had motor problems on Thursday in testing, so we took it over to Charlie Long’s shop and worked on it until late Friday night. My crew hasn’t been to sleep much in the last couple of days, but I couldn’t have done it without them, my car owner, Tracy Goodson, the Longs, or the help Benny Gordon gave us with setups.”

He also couldn’t have won without a little luck on pit strategy.

From Jacques Villeneuve to Scott Speed the success these men have had has varied, but the common theme among them all has been a season plagued by adversity.
