Geezer: What on earth is Evernham thinking? Why would he put TexasTerry in the 10 car for Carpentier at Poconose? Out of all the drivers available, even those in the truck or Busch league, why would he want to put a geezer behind the wheel? Am I biased? You bet yer bippy ! Maybe all they want is to get the car around the track some umpteen dozen times without any scratches on it. If so, this could certainly happen. What’s also certain is that he won’t be on the lead lap at the end. Gee, and I thought this sport was about racing for the W.
Mikey: Open mouth; insert foot (perhaps even both feet). Mikey said they’re working on their new COT’s, and have lowered the center of gravity 5/8ths of an inch. He said this was huge, and should make them run up front. He even said “We were coming to the white flag at Talladega with the lead. If the motor would have run one more mile, I would have won that race. At Loudon, we were right there with a chance to win.” Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Mikey, you’re a bad boy. You opened yer mouth, when you shoulda let your actions speak for you (especially since you spun out by yourself on the 4th lap).
Jamie: I said it before, now Roush is saying it…..JamieMac is the lowest man on the totem pole. Waaay lower than the others. For an orgainzation that needs to pare back to 4 teams at the end of next year, Jmac is the obvious choice, and has been for a long time. So Jamie, YOU PULL THE PLUG. Jump ship NOW while you have the chance, and the choice, and get hooked up with another team in ’09. Look what recently happened to CaseOfMears, cuz it sure could happen to you.
Rustoleum: He opened his yap about the FlyinRyan vs. Penske fandango, and it now turns out Rustard is a bald faced liar. Rustard said Penske fired Rocketman, and Penske finally set the record straight by saying he didn’t, and that the story Newman told was the truth. Thus both Newman and Penske are the good guys, and Rusty has been proven to be a dim witted dufus who should keep his mouth shut. But hey, we knew this a long time ago. From now on every time I look at him on TV, I’ll be internally quivering with disgust. Yuck.
Da Race: No, this wasn’t a race. It was an embarrasment. Perhaps those (many) empty seats were those wise fans that might have percieved this was one race to miss. In the past, “Indy” meant something special. Today, it meant “12 laps, then we pit for new tires”. In essence, it was an almost endless series of 12 lap sprint races, and the only ones that counted were the last two. No disrespect to Goodyear, nor the track, nor the COT. However, when you combine all three together, it was a mess. This was the first COT race here, and the higher center of gravity played havoc with the very abrasive track. So what do they do between today and next year this time? Your guess is as good as mine, but if they do nothing, this certainly takes the shine off this venue.
SirMark: I hate to bash him, but he played Mikie’s “open mouth, insert foot” role. Prior to the race, he said he would win it. Coming in 11th is respectable, but not what I call a ‘near miss’. For some reason, we keep allowing him to regain his stature even though he’s become NA$CAR’s equivelent to Brett Favre. I’m sorry, but a couple more faux paux’s and I’ll have to package him with Rustard.
Top Dogs: No question that JJ, da Flipster, and Gordo finally had stout cars. However, it was great to see JamieMac come to the front. Too bad this might be an anomoly. Saddleburns did surprisingly well, as did A.J.
Bottom feeders: We needn’t pick on those less fortunate, but it was surprising to see TerribleTony near the front toward the end, then see that he finished 23rd. There must’ve been a story there, but we blinked and missed it.

What a disaster of a “race”. That was basically an entire race run under caution. I am so glad I did not waste my entire day sitting around at that track. NASCAR better get on the ball and fix whatever was wrong. JJ’s second BY 400 win should have an asterisk beside it.

In the 40+ years that I’ve been involved in and a fan of racing, I’ve NEVER seen such an abortion of a race as the Brickyard.
At the very least, after the 2nd comp-caution, they should have told all the teams, “Ok here’s the deal…the tires are s**t, pit-stops are now on you guys. Use your best judgment.” and let the race go on without Daddy Helton holding their hands…..
And no matter what face NASCAR tries to put on it, attendance and fans ARE down. Folks are getting wise to the ways of Helton, France, etc and are looking elsewhere…..and I’m one of those folks.
ARCA!!! Them & trucks are the best show on the track now a days…..

I expected to see a lot of Goodyear bashing this morning.
Unfortunatly they seem to be getting off the hook a little for this major catastrophy that occured last night at Indianapolis Speedway.
Absolutly no need of what happened yesterday with the tires. And everyone was praising how all parties involved were working together to make the best of the day. In my opinion they could have tried a little harder. What were the teams doing to make the best of that race? What did Good Year do?…There was nothing they could have done to make it any better. Nascar was the only ones with the capability of turning the race into something, and yet they opted for the teams to use up all sets of the useless GoodYear Eagle “Indy” tire instead of pulling all teams into the pits at lap 60 and switching over to the Pocono tire so the fans at the track and watching from home could actually get to watch a RACE.

I spent $360 in tickets to take my family to this joke of a race and I want my money back. Goodyear and Nascar ought to split the bill and refund every paying customer for this fraud or the Indiana Attorney General ought to move forward. To a man, everyone in my section pledged not to ever return to a Nascar race at the Brickyard. This track is not right for these vehicles. Indy cars, yes. That’s real racing. NASCAR, no way. The only racing done in Indianapolis this weekend was at O’Reilly Raceway Park for the Nationwide and Truck races. I hope Tony George, Robin Pemberton, and the incompetent boobs at Goodyear Racing Division read this post.

I’ll be DARN, if I was one of those race teams, if I would pay my tire bill for yesterdays mess! $1,700 per set for ten laps!
Total embarrassment to our sport!

I think everyone’s sentiments are about the same. As a Gordon fan, I was glad to see him up front all day. However, having 1/3rd of the race under caution was just unacceptable! What a disaster.

I did a little research, and even the open wheelers have had problems at Indy. Thus, it’s probably the surface of the track. It’s been ‘diamond ground’, and probably chews up the tires.
The focus should be on the owners to repave it, or plow it under. Save the golf course, though, cuz it’s a hum dinger.

NASCAR, Indy Speedway, Goodyear. Shame on YOU! What a sorry excuse for a stock-car race! Cant pass under caution and caution is all we saw. We need a new stock-car racing organization to replace NASCAR! They have finally run themselves in the ground and some rich dude who likes racing ought to start a new governing body that dont govern so much! I can see it now, with major teams leaving NASCAR to go race in another organization that dont tell them when they can f**t, pick their noses and so on! It was ridiculous having a compitition caution every few laps, like somebody else said, NASCAR should have told the teams the tires were no good, heres some extra, now manage them! A mandatory caution was a stupid idea, let the crew chiefs earn that big ole paycheck and fiqure out how to work around another bad tire day supplied by Goodyear. And the dumb ****** at Indy should not hold another race till they fix what they did to thier precious track. This has got to be the worst race out of many bad races this year that race fans had to be subjected to. I think I will just start supporting my local track and the **** with all this NASCAR [censored] that they have come to be so famous for!

NASCAR is well aware of what the problems that caused the Brickyard NON-race. They just don’t want to confess to making a BIG mistake with the dumb COT! They have the media and teams scared silly of criticizing the junk pile. Goodyear nor anyone else could have made a tire stay under that piece of [crud] at Indy. A day racing in front of near empty stands is where they’re heading.

racing has been terrible since the cot was put into use. This race was the worst race I have ever seen and I have been watching since it was on tv every week. I refuse to waste my precious time on this kind of [stuff].

Why in the world have cautions for tires, unless to protect Goodyear and NASCAR.
May the best man win, as at any other track. Change tires at your own option. Chassi set up should play into the picture somewhere along the way. Not just run 10 laps and change tires again. How lame is that. Surely someone had it figured out.
