Formula One driver David Coulthard visited the garage before the race and chatted with Sprint Cup’s Red Bull drivers Brian Vickers and A.J. Allmendinger. Kyle Busch trying to be first to do the triple: #18-Kyle Busch, who leads the Sprint Cup Series standings, will run that series’ events at Pocono Raceway, the Pocono 500 on Sunday afternoon in addition Busch also plans on being at Texas Motor Speedway for Friday night’s Craftsman Truck Series race, the Sam’s Town 400. Then, on Saturday night, he’ll be in the Nationwide Series at Nashville Superspeedway for the Federated Auto Parts 300 presented by Dollar General. This is unprecedented to say the least. No driver has ever attempted to run in all three NASCAR national series on one weekend at three different tracks. Due to the intense travel challenges, Busch will take part in only one qualifying session this weekend – at Pocono, in the #18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. At Nashville, Busch will be in the #32 Toyota for Braun Racing. Tennessee native Will Allen will sub for Busch during practice and qualifying. At Texas, Busch will be in the #51 Toyota for Billy Ballew Motorsports, but qualifying and practice in the truck will be handled by J.R. Norris.(NASCAR PR)(6-3-2008)

Champion Mortgage to sponsor #00 Toyota: Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) announced that Champion Mortgage will sponsor the #00 Toyota Camry and driver Michael McDowell for a minimum of 10 races beginning at Pocono Raceway this weekend. Champion Mortgage, a leading mortgage lender, is a well known name in the Northeast and has been expanding its mortgage lending across the US since the Champion brand became a division of Nationstar Mortgage LLC in 2007.(MWR PR)(6-3-2008)

Racing Resources Says …
* Kyle Busch won the Best Buy 400 at Dover International Speedway after starting the race third. Busch scored his eighth career victory in his 127th career race. Busch’s previous victory came at Darlington. Busch scored his fourth victory in 2008, the most in the series. Three of those victories have come in the past five races. Busch scored his seventh straight top-10 finish, extending a streak that began at Texas. This is Busch’s first victory in seven races at Dover. His previous best Dover finish was second (twice). It marked his fifth top-five finish in seven races at Dover.
* Busch’s win marked Toyota’s fifth victory in 2008. Chevrolet and Ford each have three wins, and Dodge has two.
* Greg Biffle led the most laps, leading three different times for 164 laps total.
* This was the fifth victory for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008.
* Busch led four times for 158 laps, including the final 74.
* Carl Edwards (second) scored his ninth top-10 finish in 2008. Edwards has scored top-10 finishes in his past four races, extending a streak that began at Richmond. Edwards has finished third or better in the past four races at Dover.
* Busch remained first in the points standings. Busch gained 48 points in the race. He is now 142 points ahead of Jeff Burton — the largest championship lead so far this season.
* Busch has won 10 races in NASCAR’s three National divisions (four in Cup, four in Nationwide, two in Trucks). Busch is the only driver to score nine top-5 and 10 top-10 finishes in 13 races this season.
* Biffle (third) scored his fifth straight top-10 finish at Dover.
* Matt Kenseth (fourth) scored his third top-10 finish in his past three races.
* Jeff Gordon (fifth) scored his fourth straight top-10 finish, extending a streak that began at Richmond. He climbed from 10th to sixth in points.
* Burton (eighth) is the only driver to score top-15 finishes in all 13 races this season.
* Sam Hornish Jr. (18th) was the highest-finishing rookie.
* Kevin Harvick (38th) extended the longest streak of running at the finish of 57 races that began at Kansas in October 2006.
* A Lap 18 accident involving 11 cars (Nos. 07, 9, 11, 15, 19, 20, 21, 29, 43, 66 and 88) resulted in a 15-minute, 42-second red flag. Six of the top 12 in points were involved in this accident, resulting in a shuffle in the points standings.
* Only six cars finished on the lead lap, the fewest in a race this season.(ESPN.com)

Dover TV Ratings: Sprint Cup Racing on Fox concluded its 2008 campaign with a 4.2/10 for the race from Dover yesterday to rank as the top-rated event for the weekend. Last year’s race which was rained-out and rescheduled on a Monday afternoon posted a 2.2/7 and was not included in the 2007 season average. For the 2008 season, Sprint Cup racing averaged a 5.2/11 in the meters for 13 races, flat with last year’s average for just 12 races.(Fox)(6-2-2008)

Ganassi and Penske? Preposterous: Rumors that have surfaced recently about a possible alliance between Chip Ganassi [#40,#41,#42] and Roger Penske [#2,#12,#77] in NASCAR racing, or of a possible Penske buyout of Ganassi’s stock car team? Both men field Dodges in Sprint Cup racing, and at the recent Indianapolis 500, won by Ganassi driver Scott Dixon, the two pillars of the sport reportedly appeared a lot more chummy than usual. Sunday at Dover, Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing Communications, said he had read the rumors but scoffed at them. “Absolutely preposterous,” Accavitti said. “That would be like putting the Hatfields and McCoys together.”(Sporting News)(6-2-2008)

Did Not Finish Streak and stats: #29-Harvick has been running at the finish in 57 consecutive races [almost lost it at Dover], the longest current streak, next up is #07-Bowyer at 50 consecutive races. Harvick holds the modern era (1972-present) record at 58 (10/3/2002-8/1/2004) then Jeff Gordon at 56 and Dale Earnhardt at 53 [Indy in 1996 thru Martinsville in the spring of 1998. The all-time record for the longest streak of NOT having an DNF is 84 races held by Herman Beam from April 30, 1961 thru March 10, 1963.(6-1-2008)

Burton's streak ends: #31-Jeff Burton finished eight in the Best Buy 400 Benefiting Student Clubs at Dover International Speedway, but was one lap down, ending a streak of 17 straight races of finishing on the lead lap. That was the best streak since matt Kenseth, who had 18 straight races in 2006-2007. Burton's streak started at LMS in Oct 2007. Jeff Gordon has the best streak since 1993. Gordon ran 21 straight races from June 1998 thru Feb 1999.(6-2-2008)

Lucky Number Seven for the ARCA RE/MAX Series; Eight for Eight at Pocono?
The 2008 racing season has been a competitive one for the ARCA RE/MAX Series, with seven different winners in as many races this season, including five first-time series winners. Four of the top-10 point contenders—Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (currently leads points), Matt Carter (second), Scott Speed (sixth) and Justin Allgaier (seventh)—have earned ARCA RE/MAX Series race wins this season. Other winners include Michael Annett at Daytona, Matt Hawkins at Iowa and Joey Logano at Rockingham. The series will attempt to continue the streak with an eighth different race winner at Pocono Raceway on Saturday, June 7th. The race marks a return to competition for the diverse stock car tour after two consecutive off weekends and will air same day delayed on SPEED at 10 p.m. Eastern.

Pocono Raceway has been a traditional stop on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule since 1983, and in the sanctioning body’s 45 previous appearances at the 2.5-mile triangle, several memorable names have found victory lane, including Michael McDowell, Travis Kvapil, Casey Mears, Casey Atwood, Tim Steele, Ryan Newman, Kerry Earnhardt, Mike Wallace and Bob Keselowski. This weekend’s entry list is more than 40 cars strong and includes Pennsylvania natives Bobby Gerhart, Chase Mattioli, Steve Fox, Kory Rabenold, Norm Benning and Brian Kaltreider.

ARCA RE/MAX Series Drivers Make Good Use of Weekend off: Scott Speed Wins at Dover
Just days after earning his career first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory at Dover, ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Scott Speed is preparing for a busy, two-race weekend in which he will compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Sam’s Town 400k at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night and the Pocono 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race on Saturday afternoon, June 7th. Fellow SunTrust rookie contender Tayler Malsam will also compete in multiple racing events this week; he’s schedule to race his USAC Midget on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before heading to Pocono for Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX Series practice/SIM Factory Qualifying session and Saturday’s Pocono 200 race.

“I’m not going to become a better driver sitting home, said Malsam. “Every time I get in a race car, means another chance to learn.”

Speed and Malsam (who raced a 360 Sprint at Skagit Speedway in Washington on Saturday) are two of several drivers often found at the racetrack even during off weekends from ARCA RE/MAX Series competition. Matt Carter sat on the pole at the Milwaukee Mile for the Sears Auto Center 150 Hooters Pro Cup Race this weekend, setting a new track record at the historic, one-mile oval. He was joined in the race by current ARCA RE/MAX Series full time competitors Tom Hessert III and Bryan Silas.

Patrick Donahue Leads Cometic Crew Chief Standings
Eddie Sharp Racing’s Patrick Donahue, crew chief of the No. 2 Red Bull Toyota driven by Scott Speed, currently leads the Cometic Crew Chief standings over Larry Moore (crew chief of the No. 16 Chevrolet driven by Justin Allgaier), Jeff Campey (crew chief of the No. 99 Ford driven by Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.), Ryan Parks (crew chief of the No. 1 Ford driven by Tom Hessert, III) and John Hayden (crew chief of the No. 60 Dodge driven by Patrick Sheltra). ARCA’s Cometic Crew Chief of the Year award dates back to 1968 and has been awarded to Iggy Katona, Clifford Allison, Ron Keselowski, Bob Dotter and Tom Sokoloski, among others. Bill Kimmel is the defending Cometic Crew Chief of the year and an eight-time winner of the award.

Donahue is a weekly contributing guest on the Inside ARCA Radio show, which streams live on arcaracing.com every Tuesday night from 7-8:30 p.m.

Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Standings Wide Open
Michael Annett was a promising contender for the 2008 Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Standings but a ride in Bill Davis Racing’s No. 22 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Toyota has left ARCA’s Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Point Standings wide open. Annett is not entered for the Pocono 200 and depending on driver performance, a number of ARCA RE/MAX Series regulars—including Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Patrick Sheltra, Ken Butler, III, Tom Hessert, III and John Wes Townley—have a shot at leading the superspeedway challenge standings at the conclusion of this weekend’s ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Pocono Raceway.

The Superspeedway Challenge, which is a separate point fund for races on speedway ovals greater than one mile in length, kicked off with the ARCA 200 at Daytona on February 9th and also included the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at Kansas Speedway on April 25th and the Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 on May 10th. Additional superspeedway challenge events on the 2008 schedule include Kentucky Speedway (July 18th), Pocono Raceway (June 7th, August 2nd), Michigan Int’l Speedway (June 13th), Nashville Superspeedway (August 9th), Chicagoland Speedway (September 6th) and Talladega Superspeedway (October 3rd).

Last season, ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner Ray Evernham and driver Erin Crocker earned Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge honors, marking the first time that a female driver has earned the award. Other former recipients of the award include Frank Kimmel, Bobby Gerhart, Chad Blount, Bob Strait, Bill Baird, Mark Gibson, Tim Steele and Mike Wallace, among others.

Roush Fenway’s Stenhouse Continues to Lead ARCA RE/MAX Series Point Standings
Currently, six of the top-10 ARCA RE/MAX Series point contenders are SunTrust Rookies, including Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Matt Carter, Tom Hessert, III, John Wes Townley, Scott Speed and Tayler Malsam. Frank Kimmel, the defending and nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion, heads into the Pocono 200 third in points, just 30 points out of the lead.

Top-10 ARCA RE/MAX Series Point Standings; 1) Ricky Stenhouse Jr, 1560; 2) Matt Carter, 1550; 3) Frank Kimmel, 1530; 4) Tom Hessert, 1475; 5) John Wes Townley, 1470; 6) Scott Speed, 1445; 7) Justin Allgaier, 1440; 8) Patrick Sheltra, 1410; 9) Tayler Malsam, 1305; 10) Ken Butler, 1270.

McFarland Wins Sears Auto Center 150

West Allis, Wis.-If you saw Mark McFarland pinching himself after the Sears Auto Center 150 at The Milwaukee Mile, don’t worry, he had good reason.

"I couldn’t have dreamed this up any better," McFarland said in A.J. Foyt Victory Lane. "I spent all week with the Sears people and had a great time at their headquarters. They were all here today. You only dream up this stuff. But for it to really happen, it’s really mind-boggling."

Mark McFarland took the lead for the final time on Lap 111 and pulled away from rookie Drew Herring and Cale Gale to win the Sears Auto Center 150 at The Milwaukee Mile on Saturday afternoon.

McFarland, driver of the No. 81s Sears Auto Center Chevrolet, started 10th in the 40-car field and moved to the point on Lap 63. After giving up the lead during the cycle of pit stops, McFarland charged past Benny Gordon off Turn 2 on Lap 110 and never looked back.

"Wes [Ward] made a really good change on the tire stop and tightened me up a little so I could get off the corner better,” said McFarland, who won $11,600. “I knew right when we went back green the car was going to be really good.”

And it was. McFarland turned his best lap of the race on Lap 127.

Rain Washes Out St. Eustache
By Shon Sbarra, NASCAR

ST. EUSTACHE, Que. – The National Kodak 250 at Autodrome St. Eustache has been postponed due to inclement weather for the second straight day. Drivers were able to get a practice session in this morning, but an early afternoon rain shower dampened the track once again. Track officials tried for several hours to dry the track to no avail.
