Drama and Perception - The Fuel of NASCAR

Category: Robyn Reacts! — Author: Robyn Snell @ 10:49 am

Dale Jr. ~ Love Him? or dislike him? Kyle Busch~ Love Him? or dislike him?

Which ever side of this equation you are on, it is all about our own personal perception!

If you are the team owner for Dale Jr. you love the fact that he has the largest fan base within NASCAR.

If you are the team owner of Kyle Busch, you love this driver because a second place finish in Kyle’s mind, is the first loser of the race.

Sponsors love them both, each for different perceptions! Sales sky rocket for these sponsors as the drama intensifies.

Bottom line: this is what a sponsor wants to see, a positive return on their investment.

If I was a team owner, I would hire Kyle Busch for the simple fact he is not satisfied with a second place finish and will try every race to be first

Media of all types love all of the drivers that “fuel the drama” as it gives them all something new to “debate” on … who’s right and who’s wrong for days, weeks, months and even years down the road!

Drama is the key ingredient that keeps NASCAR number one on the charts everywhere. None of us would tune in each week to see 43 drivers play nice and be courteous! As fans, we are counting down the hours until the next race to see one driver “retaliate” against another.

When non race fans hear all of the hype between Kyle and Dale Jr. they become intrigued and tune in to see what this is all about. Before long, they find themselves as a new fan of NASCAR.

Webmasters of all drivers are kept busy “hovering” (sweeping their chat boards clean of inappropiate posts due to the fans intense defense of their driver) over their boards. Whether a fan is reading or posting, they will click on various links within this driver’s site. Yet another marketing tactic for the sponsors! All the while us fans, all media members, every one of us play a part within NASCAR. Without us, the sport would be nothing.

Perception when added to drama on and off the race track equal the Fuel that truly powers NASCAR.

Please feel free to leave your perception in our comment section below.

Until next time…Darlington
