NASCAR strips driver Peyton Sellers of a win in Camping World Series East

by Mike Irwin ~ April 23rd, 2008. Filed under: Breaking News!!, Camping World Series.

Peyton Sellers, a driver in the NASCAR Camping World East Series, has been stripped of his victory in the season-opening race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easely, S.C.

NASCAR has yet to announce the penalty though a source within NASCAR confirmed that an announcement was expected on Wednesday.

It is the first time in the division’s history that a driver has been stripped of a victory after a points race.

A release from NASCAR following Saturday’s event confirmed that a post race technical inspection raised some questions with the shocks on Sellers’ race winning car and said the parts in question would be examined more thoroughly at NASCAR’s Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C.

The punishment gives the victory to Sellers’ teammate, 17-year old Austin Dillon, the grandson of NASCAR Sprint Cup team owner Richard Childress. It was the series debut for Dillon.

It’s the first time in the history of that series that a driver has been stripped of a win
