I welcome any comments without taking offense. Most times I get some insights that I didn't have before.

This may come as a shock to you , but the perception that the INDY 500 needs to " catch up " to the World 600 is just that . Your perception . Ask any of the hundreds of thousands of spectators at the Indy 500 which race is the best . NASCAR is only perceived to be the number one race series by NASCAR fans and writers . TV ratings by Street and Smith tell nothing about the quality of a race or a series . Wrestle Mania draws huge TV audiences , but i doubt it would be considered the top sport in the US. You would also get a similar argument from fans of the NHRA , many of whom couldn't tell you who won the World 600 last year . And there have been many more examples of great female race car drivers than just the NHRA over the years . Lynn St James , Michell Mouton , Sarah Fisher . And i notice you had to add that Danica won by fuel mileage strategy . Was that really an important detail ( most races are won by fuel and pit strategies ) or were you making sure to denegrate her accomplishment just a little ?
The number one race series in the world is F1 . The fact that NASCAR fans tend to disagree with that doesn't alter the fact . And if you can sit through 17 to twenty or more caution flags per race due to mistakes by drivers who the NASCAR fans say are the top drivers in the world without questioning your judgement in picking a favorite race series , then perhaps NASCAR is the perfect show for you .

I agree with Sam but more strongly. If I hear the name Waltrip, I want to change channels. The talentless little brother has ridden his big brother's name and reputation for many years.

I don't know why Danica's win is a surprise. With many of the top drivers jumping to NA$CAR and her persistance, it was only a matter of time.
