It started in February when Dodge drivers Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch finished 1-2 at the 2008 Daytona 500.
Dodge Motorsports kept the excitement building by rolling out a number of promotions a couple of weeks later at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and there has been a very enthusiastic response from racing fans ever since.
Thousands of fans in Las Vegas lined up at the Dodge displays which were spread out at various points around the track. Among the most popular were the Dodge Journey site (which also offered a treasure chest full of NASCAR collectibles as a prize), and the Dodge Caliber SRT4 station which offered race fans the opportunity to win a Caliber SRT4 through the “It’s a New Day. Win a New Dodge” promotion. This same promotion will be repeated at four more races throughout the 2008 NASCAR season.
Another popular feature was the Test Drive a Dodge promotion. Fans who registered at the track received an e-coupon to take to their local Dodge dealer. When they take a new Dodge vehicle for a test drive, the prospect will receive a $50 gift card for Best Buy.
Other promotions introduced in Las Vegas were:
• DODGE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME: By registering at the track, the winner and a guest will be Dodge VIPs for one of five NASCAR race weekends at Talladega (April 25–27), Darlington (May 9–10), Montreal (Aug. 1–2) or Dover (May 30– June 1 and September 19–21).
• SPRINT TO WIN: In this promotion, anyone can enter by using the text messaging feature on their cell phones. Fans will text the message that they’ll hear over the PA system at the track or at the Dodge displays on site and they can win a great prize from Dodge and Sprint.
• DODGE WINS. YOU WIN: Fans living in the vicinity of the track (and who pre-register online up to seven days before the race) have a chance to receive a $500 incentive on the purchase of a new Dodge vehicle if a Dodge Charger wins one of the selected NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
At the same time these programs were being introduced to fans at Las Vegas, Dodge Motorsports also launched www.dodgeboysracing.com, a Web site where thousands of fans from around the country can find out about these promotions and join in the fun from their own homes.
These Dodge Motorsports promotions will be taking place at five more NASCAR events this season, with the next one taking place at Talladega Speedway, April 25–27, 2008. In addition to the promotions already launched at Las Vegas, another program will be introduced at Talladega. The Dodge SCRATCH & WIN contest will have members of the Dodge Squad passing out cards to NASCAR fans at the track. The fans can scratch off the cards and win great prizes from Dodge, including one Grand Prize of a 2009 Dodge Challenger..
